I'm another IPD fan. As you said Sweets it's just common sense & so easy to identify with them. I don't have lots to lose & this is the only way I've found to eat that means I can lose steadily 1 - 2 lbs a week without feeling in any way deprived because the food is so filling & delicious.

WOW Sweets, that tiramisu sounds FAB. I've just eaten some of the jelly dessert, it was nice, not spectacular but nice.

    Menu for today was;

    B Cheesy scrambled egg.
    L Tuna mayo salad
D Fresh tuna in a HM tomato & cheese sauce with broccoli.

I've been getting at least 30 minutes on the Wii Fit every day, an hour on 3 days including yoga, step, boxing & jogging. That's certainly making me feel better about about how I look. Things are going well but it's my work Christmas party next Friday, that'll be a test of willpower!

Hope everyone is having a good day.

    Hi all!

Went AWOL yesterday as I hurt my back and couldn't sit at computer for v long. Getting better though, just need to keep moving :) Maybe that'l help weight loss when I can move faster than a snail :rotfl:

    Yday food
    B - Cheese n sausage
    L - bacon n veg stew
D - brie n cranberry sauce (stood up in kitchen as couldn't cook, bend or move really)
followed by 3 cheese n brocolli soup - not low carb but the only thing I could do. Pull back ring, empty into big mug, microwave.

    Today food
    B - Cheese n sausage
    L - spicy broth
D - chicken drumsticks, brie n cranberry sauce

Know I've not had enough veg but will have more when more able :rotfl: Think I get a good 2 portions with lunches.

  • Hi Guys :D

Well today has been a mixed bag, haven't done good or bad really. Just feel abit blah actually!!

Am off to my dads at the weekend, who lives about 2 hours away. Really looking forward to seeing him as it's been over 3 months, though the only problem I have with that is he thinks he's feeding the 5 thousand when we go!!(there's only 2 adults and 2 wee ones!!) And he doesn't believe in salads, oh no, it's chips and chocolate all the way. So am not sure how I am going to get through it?? Though may eat out alot so hopefully shouldn't be too hard, fingers crossed!

Just wanted to say Thanks Paula that was a brill reply and a real inspiration for me, I'm flagging at the moment, but there is no way am I going to put back on the 19lbs that I have already lost, so thanks for that advice, just what I needed :T

Can I also add that the choc buns sound lush, though I haven't made any yet. I have however made the cream and chocolate thing as suggested on here earlier and that is divine (Though I am struggling to stop myself from eating it all the time, as I made alot tut tut) Note to self:- do not make yummy sounding chocolate things from here as I don't know where my off button is and it may result in death by chocolate!! eekk :rotfl:

Enjoy the rest of your night guys x

I don't have any particularly special tips I'm afraid. Really I just stuck to the plan and didn't cheat!

Which reminds me - Atkins helped me with the mechanics of eating but The Idiot Proof Diet was probably the key to keep me going and keep the weight off by helping me sort out my relationship with food, how i felt about my weight and its impact on my self worth, how to plan treats rather than spontaneous cheating and feeling guilty/cheating even more and also about the existence of sabotage etc (amazingly easy to spot once it has been brought to your attention and so much of it around waiting to take advantage in a moment of weakness/insecurity)

I'd also recomend the Dr Phil diet book. Can't find my copy so I can't remember the name sorry.

Its not a Low Carb book - He's not a LC fan in particular (although if you look at the criticism of LC on his website its really 'fake' LC foods (full of chemicals and trans fats) he has a problem with - as well as the fake low fat (full of chemicals and sugar).

But it is great in terms of how you feel about food and how to get yourself sorted so a healthy way of eating is easy to maintain rather than a constant struggle of will - he believes willpower is fickle and impossible to sustain, and that if that's what you rely on you're bound to struggle and probably fail. I found it very useful.

I found a frankly sneaky, but unlimately less stressful, way of dealing with this when I went visiting. I packed S&V peanuts and low carb snacks in my suitcase. I just ate very little at dinner - easiest when you help yourself, and being particularly sneaky by putting a VERY small amount on my plate then taking ages then having REALLY small seconds so no-one noticed. Then eating my hidden snacks at another time. It did make me feel a bit like a naughty child but it avoided the conflict and arguments with my 'all fat is bad' hosts. It meant my diet was far worse than usual with too much cheese (bought when out and eaten on the hop), nuts and 'fake' bars and things but it did mean my intake of carbs was much much lower than it would have been if I'd just eaten with them.

I've got so used to this WOE that it amazed me what was in their food and made it fairly easy to resist. Even the chili had baked beans in it and all I could taste was sugar.

Might not be a plan for everyone, and certainly I don't do it when I go and see friends who know how I eat and are willing to make small adjustments so I can avoid the carbs, but on some occasions I really just find this easier.
  • Morning all :hello:

Had a sneaky mid-week weigh this morning & I've dropped a lb!! Not bad considering I've been scoffing chocolate buns all week!! :D

Dobie, the tiramisu is a work in progress  I couldn't taste the coffee so was a bit disappointing. It has potential though!! :D I think stronger coffee next time & dip the buns in it for longer maybe?? I might experiment with using mascarpone/cream cheese as well, just to see how that tastes - I lurve tiramisu!!

Mercy, hope your back feels better today, try a lovely hot bath with lots of bubbles, also lean on a hot water bottle whenever you are sitting down & take ibuprofen if you need to. :kisses3:

daisy, that is one sexy little motor!! *goes green with jealousy* :D
Your egg custards sound yummy, think I'll have to give them a try.
Enjoy your [STRIKE]dirty[/STRIKE] weekend - go girl in your LBD - it's all about the confidence, as Aunty Gok would say!! :rotfl:

sticky, good luck with the weekend. If your Dad hasn't seen you for 3 months then he should notice you've lost weight (19lbs - wow!!) & hopefully won't try to fatten you up again!! Be strong!! :D

HanSpan, I love those S&V peanuts, I always have a bag in the house for emergencies. Also, almonds (preferably not the sugared variety :o) are good for snacking on.
I like your sneaky way of dealing with visits to friends/relatives, I always end up eating more than I intended, just to fit in with them. Makes me not want to visit anyone, so will have to give it a try!!

    Menu for today:
    B - 2 egg cheese & mushroom omelette with 3 pieces bacon
    L - 2 low-carb crispbreads with butter & cheese
D - coronation chicken with some kind of veg

Have a good day everyone, tis lovely & sunny here

Back from my trip away and work stuff. Came home to find fridge almost empty (jar of coffee and bottle of milk) so had to go out and do something about it.

I'm so lucky that work is manic... love my job and the opportunities it gives me, but it doesn't half mess up food plans. Today I 'found' one, only one, giant white chocolate button on the back seat and promptly ate it. :j Mmmm. I did smack myself afterwards as retribution :A

Tomorrow will be a work related lunch during a meeting so will have to engineer the correct place for it. Weekend is busy but I've stocked the car up with mini cheeses and pepperamis (again) to stave off the temptations.

Got new work gadgets I just have to go play with and set up to suit me (Daleks on phone etc) as they're not done for me even though the old phone had them staring out from the screen.

Happy LC Thursday evening whatever you eat and whoever you eat it with.
