  • Morning all :hello:

Ah well, mazzers has left us :( Fancy going on holiday & leaving us here, how inconsiderate  Hopefully she will be back before we know it!! :o

I'm up early, woken by totm cramps :( so feeling a bit yuk this morning. Made myself a cup of coffee & just waiting for it to cool enough to drink ...

Always H, there are some lovely recipes on page 1 of this thread, not for fishpie or soup, but worth checking out for other ideas.
I use Jamie Oliver's fishpie recipe, I'll try & post it again later but too early for me to search atm!! I use mashed cauli on top instead of mashed potato & it's gorgeous.
For soup you can use chicken stock (made from chicken bones) or ham stock (made from ham bones, can't think of the name of the one I get??) & then low-carb veggies like leek, celery, broc & cauli?? Blend it together & serve with a blob of full-fat creme fraiche.

newcook, don't forget you can eat veggies on low-carb, it's not all meat!!

Right, I'm off to drink my coffee, will be back later
  • Thanks for the welcome.
Am off to car boot to see if I can pick up any recipe books. Bit of fish pie that I couldn't think how to work was the white sauce. Some of Atkins recipes use soya flour but I don't think the shops around here will stock that. Last time I gave up because I found it too difficult to work esp as I am out and about during the day and tend to rely on sandwich shops for lunch. If I make soup that will help me as I have stainless steel flask.
Am going away for a long weekend next week and think I will struggle to find suitable food but will make an effort not to be too bad.
  • I'm having a carb crash a week early :( havent even had a chance to weigh my induction weight!! argh... this socialising business reaks havoc on my diet. However my birthday week did officially start yesterday and ends this time next week, so any slip ups are put down to "its my birthday and I'll eat pie if I want to"

boot sale this morning in essex, bit of a change... hopefully our friends wake up soon and make breakkie!!

hallo always harrassed, welcome and good luck finding a book - look out for orange and blue (atkins) I got mine at the car boot for 20p!!

  • Always Harassed - try this site or just google low carb

lots & lots of recipes here:

  • Here's the Jamie Oliver fishpie recipe:

    http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/f...cipes/fish-pie

I use a whole tub of full-fat creme fraiche for the 'white sauce' bit - it just gets mixed in with the fish, cheese & veggies - so easy!! The mashed cauli (cooked) goes on top of the uncooked fish mix then some grated cheese & bunged in the oven for an hour.
  • Hello Newbies! :hello:

Claire -I too have a fair way to go, If I'm honest I've got about 6 more stones to go. Sigh. I'm doing a mix of Low Carb and low GI as I am thinking this is going to be a way of life for me and I can't stick to LC forever! Its coming off slowly -about 1 1/2 stone so far....

Right, I need to start packing for the trip to the Fatherland. We're leaving at stupid o'clock tomorrow morning, catching the ferry at Dover then driving down. I've packed loads of low carb snacks. Mmmm. I'll be back late on Saturday so you lot be good while I am gone.....especially you Sweet! (if I can find an internet cafe i'll be keeping my eye on you. ;))

    Toodles. x

Hi to all those joining in with this thread - hope it all helps for you.

I've had my morning stuff, watched the start of the Great North Run from the comfort of my living room window and also improvised on my lunch. More of the mashed cauli with some nearly out of date Bratwurst and salady things. Have to say I do enjoy the cauli enormously as it is great mixed with coleslaw.

Got some beef marinading in olive oil and lime juice so will flash fry it and add to another salad, got green beans this time for veg.

I tend to not to any weighing of myself as I just don't want to look and fall back into the guilt and depression moods- am happy with loose clothing and increased activity!!
  • Thank you for the welcome. Well it would appear that I now know where you are all hiding and I shall make an effort to get here often.

I've just eaten a caramel kitkat (they are gawgus!). Thats it now, back on the straight and narrow. Its not often I cheat, but if I really, really, really, want something, I am not going to deny myself. Tomorrow is another day and I am not seeing this as diet, more a new way of eating.
  • Hi peeps, just back from a half hour walk, tis lovely & warm & sunny here so making the most of it as it's forecast rain tomorrow

marrow, another one sloping off, forgot you were going away as well!! :( Tis gonna be soooo quiet on this thread!!
