Am away all weekend but hope that everyone keeps their spirits high and their carbs low.
I like that Gers!:T
I'm trying to be low carb but I'm getting attacked by family members (especially sisters) when I refuse fairy cakes and potatoes etc
and I am being TOLD that its bad for my health even way I say I've researched it, I'm happy with it and feel the healthiest I've ever felt
also bored of eggs for breakfast so not having a good start to the dayI'm gonna have a decaf coffee with cream to keep me going and then have some chicken and cucumber later morning...
hope you all have a better day!! welcome to our new friendsSPC5 #1651 total so far: £78.590 -
Been pretty rubbish this past week, meals have been ok but been snacking at night:o Have not actually put too much on though, only 1lb.
I am back at 100% though, will do phase one of IPD til i get to 8st.
Hubby is doing really well, he is under 17st for the first time in about 5 years. His new target is 16st and he says thats where he wants to stay. I know 16st is quite heavy but he is very muscular so probably high on the BMI but right for him if that makes sense.
My mum is doing well too after i confiscated her pancakes:p She was having one first thing in the morning and thinking it was okI read the nutritional info on the back and each pancake was 16g of carbs:eek:
One of the flyladies posted this recipe and i think it looks yummy! Obviously swapping out the skim milk for full fat but it is pretty low carb by the look of it:TThe trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Morning all :hello:
I've been rubbish so haven't been posting but I try to keep an eye on [STRIKE]all of you[/STRIKE] things!! :rotfl:
soton, I think there is a danger of becoming 'egged out' - has happened to me on many an occasion!! Try & vary your breakfasts if you can & you don't have to stick to traditional 'breakfast' foods - if you fancy mazzer's tuna/lettuce wraps for brekkie then have it!! (Here's hoping you are not the peep that hates all fish, lol!!) But you get the picture.
When I'm feeling flush, I buy Mr T pork escalopes/steaks for breakfast as I prefer 'proper' meat to bacon/sausages etc (not so salty). They used to be 2 packs for £5 & I think you got 3 or 4 pieces in each pack?? Not 100% sure as haven't bought them for ages but 1 piece a day was enough for me (if I was having with fried or buttery scrambled egg) or 2 if I was [STRIKE]being greedy[/STRIKE] having on it's own.
I suppose another idea for brekkie is a 'continental' style - cold meats/cheeses etc.0 -
I'd like to ask about porridge. Sainsburys porridge oats have 60 listed on the label under carbs. So why is porridge considered a "good" food for low-carbers ?0

Hi all - waves weakly at screen.
Got taken into hospital as in pain with kidney infection and have only just managed to escape!
Nightmare for a lc diet - all of breakfast was either starch/sugar so they thought me crazy when I asked if I could get a cheese sandwich and then I left the bread.lol Sort of went downhill from thereon in, on being told I was diabetic I was offered choc digestives and the dessert for diabetics was jelly and ice cream!!! At least now I know that along with having to take all my medications in with me, next time I will have to have a food parcel too. Then on top of that I had to deal with ignorant nurse telling me that lc was not a diabetic diet, I couldn't hack it so just referred her to ADA site........
So today
Day 71
B Cheese
L Beef soup h/m
D Chicken and roast vegetables
Can't wait for the coconut oil to get back in my system, by the second day in hospital I could feel all the reflux and acid starting up again but soooo glad to be home.
Oh I am so sorry I have just really offloaded on you all but thanks for listening0 -

wasn't aware that it was?! Porridge is one of those things recommended for breakfast for a 'normal' diet cos it's low GI, keeps you full etc but as far as I know it can't be considered even remotely low carb! If you are going to have some carbs, then it is better to eat them early in the day and porridge would be a good choice (on a general level again) but they will def bump up the carb count.
I had protein porridge this morning for my high day, heaven!Little lady arrived 13/12/110 -
ok, I'm mixed up about low carbs and low GI, I need to go and have a quick burst of hysterics then try again !0

well afternoon everyone.I know I usually post on a Saturday morning but this week has been a good one for me and I've lost 2lb!!!!!!!!!!!I've still got to weigh in tomorrow but who cares 2lbs brings me within 5lbs of my target weight. Its getting close enough to touch now and unbelievably I went clothes shopping this morning and found a fab suede long skirt for a fiver it should have been sixty quid. The only downside was it was a size 10 and looking at it I would have never thought I could get into it but shock horror surprise it fit and it fit well too!So snapped it up and I'm chuffed to little bobbers.I might not be able to eat choccy and bread etc any more but looking damned good in my clothes more than compensates for that.
I have learnt one thing about myself this week and it has helped with the weight loss.I've learnt I was eating too much salt and thats what was causing my fluid retention.I've decreased the salt to almost nothing and I havent retained fluid all week and that bit of weight I couldnt shift dropped off
Could I please just voice a little caution for those who are LCing that are diabetics.Over the 12months I've been LCing I've read loads of info how its supposed to help control BG levels and I hope that it does but please dont let anyone be silly enough to give up their insulin or drugs in favour of the LC diet as It would be a truly foolish thing to do.I know you lot that post wouldnt consider such a thing but you never know who's reading these posts and they might just get the wrong idea.Sorry to preach but its been worrying me for a while and I needed to get it off my chest

I am now doing Dr D, which seems to be like SW red days, will try for a few weeks and if it doesnt suit me will be back to lc.

Welcome mardatha, where did your OH get the idea for lc for diabetes? I bet he'll see great improvements
Pity more people dont give it a try, along with their meds of course!0
