BTW, i didnt die of swine flu during the night, in case you hadnt noticed :D

And my sore throat is better.
I prob got a bit run down from early mornings and late nights, plenty of sleep is my secret to good health.

I am in cleaning mode today, thankfully.
The bathroom sink looks like something out of 'life of grime', there is dirty washing still on the landing, cos as fast as i wash, they throw more down
I am so fed up of the mess in this house, i think a shake-up is called for.

    Batten down the dishes :D:rotfl:

    Hello Low-Carbers!
I see you have a few posts on coconut oil here and i thought I'd share my experiences.

I've been slightly or very overweight most of my adult life and in the early 2000's it was really getting out of hand. I decided to go on a diet but as usual, nothing worked, not even fasting.
I then discovered the coconut oil diet and realise that this could be for me... because I have never eaten to much, rather, I eat small amounts but the less I eat, it seems, the fatter I would get.

I went on the strict cconut oil diet, banning ALL fats and oils from my kitchen except coconut oil, and just about all carbs. I did not count calories, rather, I ate very big meals, lots of stuff and loads of coconut oil.

The fat just melted off me. Within three weeks I was 20 pounds lighter, wearing clothes I had not worn since I was in my 20's (and had kept for some reason!)
My daughter was not dieting, but she too was overweight and simply ate the stuff I prsented her with, all cooked in coconut oil.
Without even trying, she dropped 10 pounds and looked really gorgeous - she had found her natural weight, and now, six years later, she is still a good weight. She will never be thin, she's a curvy type, but she is not the least bit fat anmd looks really good.

I kept my weight while relaxing the coconut oil diet to include whole grains, and stayed at a good weight for quite a few years.
In the last year I have grown rather lax with my food, tough I still only eat whole grain carbs, I do have a sweet tooth and tend to snack to omuch, so I have put on weight again, but nowhere near to what I was before coconut oil. I have also become a bit stagnant and that's what I attribute to my weight gain.

Apart form the weight loss I felt generally so good on that diet - it really boosts your energy. I believe absolutely that it works by stimulating the metabolism, and that it's my metabolism that causes the probems, not calories.
I need to get back into gear, thus posting in here for the first time! Time to get back to more coconut oil!
I;ve always had it in my kitchen, but have not been using it as much as I used to.

One of the biggest no-no's in my kitchen is sunflower oil, and all the usual cooking oils. I only use coconut, olive oil and butter. I don't believe the hype about the dangers of saturated fat, and it;s my guess that this stupid campaign is behind much of Britain's obesity problem.

My greates weakness is sugar. I love sweet stuff, chocolate, desserts, tea and coffee has to be sweet!

  • arunadasi, there are lots of coconut oil fans on this thread, thanks for sharing your experiences with us.

I'm not a fan at the moment but I am thinking of trying it. I just use olive oil & butter for cooking.

Indeed I think we will find the so-called "healthy" margarines are the source of much ill health.

Here's an excellent (and very long!) article by Barry Groves on the idiocy of the FSA anti-sat-fat campaign:
    http://www.second-opinions.co.uk/fsa-ignorance.html
In February 2009, the UK’s Food Standards Agency (FSA) launched a concerted campaign to get us all to reduce the amount of saturated fat — by which they mean animal fats and tropical oils – in our diets.
But not only the message, but also they way they delivered it, showed their total ignorance of the science and evidence published over the last decades. This shows that, in fact, it is not natural saturated fats that are the problem, it is the unnatural processed polyunsaturated vegetable cooking oils and margarines.
    Ridiculous, misleading propaganda

For example, the BBC showed 'saturated fat' being taken from the fridge and then poured down the sink drain. Then the U-bend was dismantled to show how the fat had clogged it. This, they said, was what happened in your arteries.
It was complete rubbish, and untrue!

Oh its lovely, i dont enjoy a coffee without it now, it is oily on top but mmm is delicious.

Not cleaned, had a strop and am refusing to do anything, including cooking dinner.

Am so sick of the mess in every room.
They've gone out in my car to get away from me.. Good.

Honestly, there's shoes, trainers, rucksacks, books, cd's, dvd's, clothes everywhere.
I had put a wooden blind on the spare bed with the receipt to return it as the fixings were missing.. well..
The blind was flung on the floor to make way for some 'mate' to sleep and the receipt is now in another dimension, so i cant return it.

There were eight hoodies hooked on the bannister, (and there are coat hooks 2 yards away,) was a coat on the floor in front of the washing machine (is now flung up the garden):mad::mad:

I dont know where to start so think i will just crack open a bottle of wine and leave the lot.

Oh and altho the stairs were vacuumed about 4 days ago it looks like it hasnt been done for months. (i think they collect 'sock fluff' and sprinkle liberally on their way up and down.)

Lol, mazzers, methinks we are in the same place!! :rotfl:

I have definitely got my Mrs. Angry head on today

Had a major strop with the wonky rotary airer earlier - it's never been right since hubby moved it for me!! I've been 'mentioning' it for weeks but he still hadn't done anything about it. Today, I flipped!! With much x-rated cursing under my breath, and with washing still attached, I dragged it to it's original home & then couldn't get the bl00dy thing to go back up!! Had to get hubby to help, even though I wasn't speaking to him by that time!! Anyway, finally up & washing hung out, 20 minutes later it starts to rain!! I can laugh about it now, but at the time ........................!! :rotfl:
