thank you aliasojo.
can i ask for advice on here as I start along or is it just regulars?Mortgage Balance May 25- £9975. Planning to be paid off by Dec 25🎄0 -
Woke up soooooo hungry this morning, my belly was aching from lack of grub.
Today I've had:
Breakfast/Lunch - Tuna mayo, lettuce, cucumber, 1 red pepper, few dollops of cottage cheese.
Snacks - Few brazil nuts, pepperami, handful of scratchings (I'm a bad snacker!)
Dinner - Chicken tikka with broccoli and cauliflower.
I think the curry would of been quite high carb, because of the tinned toms, onion and curry paste, but I doubt it's higher than 12g?
What's the cut off point for ketosis does anyone know?
I just realised I love cauliflower and will be having it with cheese for dindins tomorrow.
If I'm hungry later might have a boiled egg.0 -

Ok I'm probably being thick but I'm not sure what you mean about cut off point?Herman - MP for all!0 -
Didn't explain myself very well there
How many carbs per day would keep you IN ketosis and how many would throw you out? I know staying under 20g will keep you in, but not sure about anything higher? I know ketosis isn't all it's hyped up to be too, but I quite like the idea of my body eating it's copious self0 -
I have no idea.
I think it's a 'how long is a piece of string' type question though...it's different for everyone. Some people wont go into ketosis at all or will but wont show it on the ketostix.
Found this:
If, instead of starving, you’re following a low-carb diet, it gets even better. The protein you eat is converted to glucose instead of the protein in your muscles. If you keep the carbs low enough so that the liver still has to make some sugar, then you will be in fat-burning mode while maintaining your muscle mass, the best of all worlds. How low is low enough? Well, when the ketosis process is humming along nicely and the brain and other tissues have converted to ketones for fuel, the requirement for glucose drops to about 120-130 gm per day. If you keep your carbs below that at, say, 60 grams per day, you’re liver will have to produce at least 60-70 grams of glucose to make up the deficit, so you will generate ketones that entire time.

1-2 tablespoons MCT oil 1tsp-1tablespoon flaxseed oil 50mg EPA
If you use that 3 times daily it will provide your brain with a good fuel source and maybe help with Migraines/Hot Flashes or other signs of brain fatigue.
I think about 50~60g carbs is the usual cut off point but it will vary some people seem to get down to zero carbs and not show any sign of colour on ketostix while others are getting some indication around 100g.
It just isn't fair.
MCT oil is available from bodybuilders type suppliers. It's made from coconut oil and some people find coconut oil, while not such a concentrated source of Medium Chain Triglycerides is also effective (and cheaper)My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Hi Moomi,
Before I started doing this low-carb thing, I thought that my biggest problem would be breakfasts because I adored the choc/nut cereal I usually ate. Now I have stewed apple with a mix of chopped nuts, ground flaxseeds and flaked almonds, served with cream. Delish! For work, and for a stricter 'diet' than I have been doing, you could have just the nut mix with Greek yoghurt. You could keep the yoghurt in the fridge and the mix in a tupperware box (I've resurrected mine since I started). You could also keep hard boiled eggs in the fridge as they would make a good snack and are full of protein.
Hope this helps.Vegetarian. Have cut out all high carb food. Not following any particular plan.Started 20/1/2009. Weight lost so far 29lbs. Target weight loss 38lb in total.0 -

Aw that's great mazzers. Prepare yourself for sleepless nights as you worry about him alone (or worse with a car full of mates) on the road now.
There again, you're off the hook as a taxi driver.
