I was going to say you sound like a classic pear shape, paula.
I'm finding it hard to concentrate on reading posts, and typing, so think low-carb is kicking in already!! Also, TOTM not helping  Will go & have something to eat & drink & hopefully be back later to do some replies & hopefully make more sense.0 -
I have always been pear shaped and very flat chested  I have definitely lost from my bottom half too but there was so much more to loose :rotfl:
Oh to be a top heavy lovely....
We are never happy us women are we
Have always wanted to be pear shaped and have a small waist, as i always had a boyish figure when i was young.
I have slim-ish hips and legs (for my size anyway) and my boobs are biggish but so are my arms and my back, my waist is non existent, and i think if you are pear shaped at least you can hide it under a nice long skirt.0 -
I've been getting great tips from this forum in the past but decided to post this time. I started carbing in Feb 09 and the first week I lost 4lb and the 2nd, 2lb then the third week nothing! I realise I was kidding myself that that bit of dark chocolate (and then another) wouldn't do any harm as I'm afraid to say I have put most of the above back on again!
I took redundancy last year and one of my targets was to get back under 10stone. I'm around 10 stone 9lbs, but I have gained 1/2 stone in the last three or four years which is a sod to shift. I'm 37 and no kids (yet) and I thought I'd better do something about it while I can as I know when I get back to work I'll no doubt be stressed and not eating as I should.
My dowfall is cake. When I want some, nothing else will satisfy. Unfortunatly it is usually high in carbs. Until now I haven't tried Splenda etc. I'm not really a fan of artificial sweetners, but I'm going to give it a go.
I have been doing the Dr Clarks New Low Carb diet, which seems pretty sensible. You can eat up to 40grams carbs per day. I don't want to go down as low as 20per day as I then felt sick.
I hope that by posting here I'll reach my target goal of 8lbs lost in one month before our summer hols. If I lose more, fantastic.
I'm also going to do some daily exercise. This morning I did Natalie Cassidays Then & Now DVD but according to my Polar monitor I only burned off 194 calories! Eeek!! I can do a lot better than that if I go for a spin on my bike but the weather does not always permit that.
So here goes.....0 -
Welcome anneley, mercy has some great 'cakey' recipes, not tried many of them tho as i am more savoury, but recommend the cheesecake.
I have only lost 11lbs, but the difference is amazing, it sure looks more than that, which is testament to 'why the scales can lie link'
I would not have (mostly) stuck to it, if it were not for this great thread, so hopefully it will help you.
I am taking the boys out for a celebration meal tonight and i will be having chips with it, but will be back to lc tomorrow, I have a leg of lamb roasting, as i was making roast dinner but will use that tomorrow.
I also have a bottle of champagne chilling, that i was keeping for a special occasion0 -
Ok, I'm back. I've had my salmon salad & 2 glasses of water so I will now attempt a coherent post, not promising anything though  I'll take my time.
Hello ravylesley, I recognise your name, probably from when I started low-carb & was reading the old thread way back in January. You have done amazingly well
I think most of us on this thread have done low-carbing/Atkins in the past & then lapsed, so you are in [STRIKE]bad[/STRIKE] good company!!
I have just re-started low-carb yesterday after many, many blips & carb-fests!!Hopefully, this time .........
I haven't posted my weight on here but I'm currently a size 18, hoping to be a 16. I've said before that I don't tend to lose dress sizes as much as other peeps so dropping one size is actually good for me.
Anyway, good to have you on board but be warned, this thread sometimes goes a bit haywire!! It's not always as sensible as the old one was!! :rotfl:
Hello to anneley too, there are low-carb cake recipes via page 1 of this thread that may interest you. I wasn't keen on buying splenda either but have got some in for when I crave something sweet.
I can recommend Mercy's chocolate marscapone dessert, it's not a cake but is very lush & rich!!Also, the coconut muffins have gone down well on this thread & they do have a cakey texture.
Hope this post made sense, took me long enough to type it!! :rolleyes:0 -

Aww, mazzers, enjoy your celebration meal tonight (with chips!!) & your champagne!! _party_
It really is great news - was thinking earlier that you could maybe afford to go for that holiday with your friends now??
Tis good to get some good news, I'm sat here smiling for you!! :rotfl:0 -
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
I have to admit to not being the best low carber in the world. But I'm determined to lose this last stone.Hubby has just spent a small fortune on a whole new wardrobe for me as my other clothes were literally hanging off me so I defo dont want to put any weight back on
Anneleyskiing-I do an hours running, boxing etc on the wii and I dont think I've lost an ounce doing it.According to a fitness freak I know, the exercise only tones up the muscle it doesnt lose weight. So its the low carbing that takes the weight off me.Paula it sounds to me like you need to try the wii fit as it has loads of muscle workouts that will take that saggy tummy back to normal. My tummy has improved loads since I started doing them
Mazzer-Congratulations on the Mortgage being paid off do you reckon your insurance company would pay mine off:rotfl:
Sazzy-How are you and Gilly doing?Has he got down on one knee yet?

Not getting any younger :rolleyes:0 -
