    Hello!

Just a few notes on the mooli / daikon giant radish.

Not sure if this pic will come out
    http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=mooli&hl=en&sa=X&biw=1024&bih=649&tbm=isch&prmd=imvnse&tbnid=dP_30O49o-XP9M:&imgrefurl=http://www.garden4less.co.uk/world-kitchen-mooli-daikon-radish.asp&docid=t-8uG8TjwsCe1M&imgurl=http://www.garden4less.co.uk/prodimages/veg/world-kitchen-mooli-daikon-radish.jpg&w=220&h=220&ei=XEVsUJ7_FcfZ0QW19oDQDQ&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=448&sig=113045241445863394733&page=1&tbnh=155&tbnw=154&start=0&ndsp=16&ved=1t:429,r:15,s:0,i:118&tx=98&ty=96

Murphydog – may be worth including on your list – which is on the recipe list now :D

    http://calorie-data.com/foods/view/13-331

    2.9g carb in 100g raw.

    • Always peel – just hygiene :) And if youve kept it for a coupla weeks - the inside is fine even if it looks like it's going a little bit brown :)
    • Is a really big radish – mellow radish taste when raw
    • Really good julienned in any salad – doesn’t go brown :D
    • Can be sliced very thin and become a base for an 'open sandwich’ – something to spread something else on, cracker type thing but is wet rather than dry – cut off a big piece, peel and slice laterally by standing on flat cut end and slicing downward, dry on paper towels.
    • Really cheap and BIG in Autumn
    • If cooked will always have a slight crunch like texture unless cooked slowly in small pieces for a few hours – like slow cooking with meat for several hours. Then it’s like turnip cooked just right.
    • Imbues a slight pepper flavour if juiced or cooked
    • Has potassium
    • Is a good filler
    • Keeps well. If in cool place will keep for at least 2 weeks even if cut. I can’t vouch for longer but 2 weeks uncut and 2 weeks if some cut off it I can vouch for. Keeps better than carrots bought in asda at least :rotfl:

I’ve recently bought 2 mooli like I do but due to illness haven’t been juicing it. (can’t be bothered) So I’ve had a lot ;) They were 2 at about 2kg+ each lol At least 2 ft long and fat with it – YAY! :j And only 99p each :j

Will be baking some tomorrow with beetroot and garlic to practise for bonfire night – will let you know how it goes.

    Big mooli to you all

    Hello LCers.
Just popping in to see how everyone is. I haven't been on here for ages but still at the eating plan, losing a little more weight. I stopped looking (when the whole edw@rdia thing kicked off, and because I couldn't keep up!) for a while, but have seen daska post over on OS. So that has jolted home to pop by and wave.

Hope you are well. I found some reduced jars of antipasti this morning, in date till 2015, and nice a low on carbs. One is mixed veg, one is peppers, and the other cherry chilli's. Looking forward to those.

Also have a bit of a thing for coleslaw at the minute. With all sorts mixed in (ham, cheese, prawns, chicken etc) makes a great quick lunch.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi

Hi bossymoo - how are the kids doing? Nice to know how you are

Mercy - let us know how the recipe goes - sounds interesting

murphydog - I really hope that the moving sorts itself out soon.

Not too bad today but I will do better in a couple of weeks. It is my birthday tomorrow but I am not sure what I will be doing as my friends are sunning themselves in hotter climes. Maybe I will go for a walk as it isn't supposed to rain. I am going with my daughter to try to get some new trousers as I only have one pair that are not linen and fit. Nice when you have to get new clothes as the others are too big but I still have a big tummy roll to contend with :D

Look after yourselves all and Bon Nuit :)

Jjj-are you enjoying your work? Sad about the apg stopping isn't it-b.

Hi Marbett! yes.. very sad about the apgs... coz I would have liked to have got some more.. but a relief too as you say, as it was doing my brain in.. and not letting me sleep much due to having to work out what to buy next!

Work is going very well. First day was a bit hard.. having to get used to all the equipment with no training. I work with 3 other really nice ladies who help me out a lot. I get a bit worried about keeping on disturbing them, but they dont seem to mind. Yesterday was better.,. getting the hang of it now, and actually producing some work!

Today, i've got this for work: (all whoopsies)

    Coronation chicken, salad, blueberries.

Last night for dinner, had salmon steak with mange tout.

tonight, having gammon steak with mange tout

Drinking loads of water at work as its ice cold, filtered and free!

    Hope all are well. x

Hello.. I had a thing for coleslaw a while back when husband discovered we could make it at home for a fraction of the cost and it tastes so much better home made.. but gone off it now, as I over did it!

Jerry - sounds like you are eating well!

alias - I hope that the hypnotherapy is helping.

bossymoo - you are sounding positive but will be thinking of you and the anniversary as it can't be easy. Kids can be a handful but the under 5's bring so much laughter into any house (and tantrums!)

daska - if you do read this, I hope that you aren't suffering too much with wheat. I can't pm you so please let me know how you are?

Have a good day everyone ;)

Have you tried changing the ingredients? Try making it with celery and peppers.
