Yep shall do that in future, ask for a jug of tap water from the start.
Thanks for the Nandos info Edwardia, yep the marinade won't be super clean but I'm OK with that for a treat. Can anyone else recommend a restaurant where it's fairly easy to low carb?
I've got some piri piri sauce but I tend to spice up stuff with my own herbs and spices, got shedload from ebay really cheap!
Will check out your blog Edwardia, what's it called? You can list it in your MSE profile, think it's under my homepage so it's in the drop down under your avatar, that's where mine is :-) I drive past a Lidl on the way home from work and often call in for their special offers, got some great running gear recently, really good quality and much cheaper than high brand sports wear!0 -
Hi y'all, still trying to get up to date on blog after all the probs with Virgin Media ..added the July low carb organic offers at Sainsbury's and low carb Lidl offers from Thursday, today.
I think Lidl is great for stationery and I stock up there when I see stuff on special offer. Also bought stepdaughter in Texas, some stuff with the Olympic logo and I've had decent success with indoor plants from Lidl.
avstar I have been through the menus of some chain places on my blog, just search by name and if I've done it, it should come up.
I don't have my blog URL on my profile, because when I started doing one in April, Chinese spammers copied it and I got warned by Google. Blogger told me there was nothing they could do ! So my new one is delisted from Blogger directories and search engines which is a pain as I had readers in UK, Australia, USA, Portugal, Poland, Ireland, NZ and Kuwait ! I did get grief from people on other MSE boards about low carbing earlier this year so I'm not willing to put the URL up and risk getting grief on that as well.0 -
Just for the record - the Black Farmer sausages are lush. Moff to stock up on them for the freezer0

I popped into a charity shop on the way home from work. Managed to pick up Potatoes not Prozac by Kathleen DesMaisons and The Calorie, Carb and Fat Bible 2010 for £1.99 each. Am reading the former at the moment and will be carrying the latter in my bag for a while to use whilst shopping.0

Have heard of the guy but my local Morrisons has Spoilt Pig stuff not his. I will have a look in ASDA and Sainsbury's.
Kathleen DesMaisons is anti sugar but not anti-potato, IIRC. There's a website www.radiantrecovery.com Haven't read the book myself, will you please review it Minihauk ?
Carb counters are a good idea for people starting out, because I don't think going completely cold turkey on carbs from the get go is a good idea myself and everyone has to do low carb his/her own way.
But for those of us trying to eliminate additives and GM-fed animals and poultry it's a case of don't need it, don't eat processed foods. The other day I saw glucose syrup in an organic product and I thought OK it's organic so made from organic sugar..but it's still sugar, it's still not good for me.
Mercy, I first read them at www.twilighted.net in fan fiction form and loved them so I bought them earlier this year. Kristen Stewart kinda hinted in an interview that she'd love to do the movie with RPattz. What did you think ? xx
Edited to add I like the Jasper/Edward stories0 -
I only got the books at weekend so just started, will let you know when I've finished em. But not sure R Patz is old enough to carry it off. IYKWIM

Personally I like toyboys..;) xx
The venison grill steaks from Tesco tasted like greasy venison sausages. The venison burgers and grill steaks from ASDA are much better but my local store doesn't sell them anymoreTesco Class 2 organic cauliflower didn't taste any different to to non organic cauliflower but ASDA organic leeks had recently were 100% better and organic carrots taste better too..

Hi Edwardia, It may take me a while to read it. I'll try to get through it as quickly as I can and then let you know.
I don't eat additives either, but the carb counter will help when I shop. I try to buy only unprocessed and low carb, but it isn't always easy to understand.
I am officially an idiot - I brought my lunch to work with me today - but picked up the stir fry for dinner tonight instead of the salad for lunch! Smoked makerel to go with it, so I guess it will be just that as I don't think I can stir fry in a microwave!
Have a good day all.0 -
Heard on the news that there's a study from Sweden in the British Medical Journal which says that low carb diets increase cardiovascular risk.
Firstly it's supposedly followed 43 000 women over 15 years. The population is Sweden is something like 4 million IIRC. So in Swedish terms that would be a huge study. I have questions in my mind, for example was this study done retrospectively to try and find causes for cardiovascular events suffered by 1270 women ? Was it done by looking at medical records or were 43,000 women actually recruited to be studied ?
Because if you go in with a point of view you can skew stats.
43,000 women of whom 1,270 had cardiovascular events. So 41,000 didn't have one,
The conclusion is that if you lower your carb intake by 50g per day and increase your protein intake by 5g per day your cardiovascular event risk goes up 5%.
Personally I think it's a stupid study and will be looking for comments by Dr Briffa and especially Dr Eenfeldt.0
