schoolhouse, sunnyday, nuttybabe, gloowendoom, mazzers +++ how are you doing?

    Hi Peeps

I'm still here lurking every now and again :D

I struggle to keep up as i'm so busy atm and only allow myself a quick half hour here and there online - usually to find the answer to some question or other lol

I do hope to be back properly at some stage but a lot of my time is taken up with DH who is still unwell, work and the day to day grind of jobs.

I am still lcing but not properly - only in a kinda haphazard fashion to try and not actually put any weight on rather than lose any more just now. However when i do finish all the extra workload and DH is finally on meds that actually work i can relax a little.

Its great so see that you are all (mostly) still here and i do keep dipping in every now and again when time allows to see how you are all doing :D

Right thats my cuppa time gone so i need to get back to painting a door lol, day off today and i STILL don't have time to relax GRRR.

Keep up the good work peeps

Hi all. I wish I was here with good news, but not only have I stalled, I've gained a pound and have no idea why?

It's easy for me me as living alone I have no temptation in the cupboards, but did eat cauli cheese over the weekend made with full fat creme fraiche and cheddar. That was one medium cauli, homemade cream of mushroom soup and a salmon salad all weekend. In fact I wonder if I eat enough? The cauli cheese is so rich, that I can only eat a small amount.

The cauli cheese didn't set off carb cravings as in daska's case, and I have no cravings at all. Could it be too much cheddar?
Due to budget, I bought cheap mature cheddar which is a false economy really, as good cheddar has such flavour that I find less is needed.

So far today, I've eaten nothing. I will eat salmon salad with dressing and mayo later.

Although I should have a head start shopping for one, I won't eat eggs or meat, only fish and veg, and my budget is very tight.

Gone are the days when I'd have kippers for breakfast, salmon for lunch and a dover sole for supper. Now it's more likely to be a tin of sardines mashed with mayo.:(

Breakfast is the biggest problem as everything's focused around eggs!

Oh woe is me, which is why I've put off posting 'till now. Feeling fed up, as you've guessed.

If anyone could point out what's gone wrong, I would be grateful, and Edwardia, I would love to read your blog, though as a newcomer to the thread I understand if you don't wish to share yet.

We need a success story please to counter my miserable post..

tod123 - I've been watching Gok Cooks Chinese and only came across one recipe I could do and the recipe wasn't on the Channel4 scrapbook page ! Suggest borrowing Chinese cook books from library and photocopying recipes or having a look on the recipes at www.wingyipstore.co.uk or www.waiyeehong.com If you mean choices from Chinese menu that's tricky, my local one puts sugar in everything, even crispy seaweed :( sistercas may have some ideas

Padstow - a pound or two is most likely water gain/loss. If it had been bought cream of mushroom that's carby, but unless you were using flour I don't see anything there that would upset the diet. It's definitely NOT the Cheddar.

Meat, fish and veg on a budget.. hmm.. suggest you look up your fave veg on www.glycemicindex.com and prioritize the lower GI ones. If you've heard of the USDA food pyramid then I'd suggest making veggies the basis of your pyramid, borrowing Low Carb Vegetarian by Celia Brooks Brown from local library and photocopying recipes you fancy. The next layer suggest fish because that's got Omega 3 and protein and it's cheaper than meat and better quality protein than pulses etc. Meat as the top of the pyramid because of cost.

Frozen kippers are cheap, so are fresh sardines, dab and small plaice. Poundland has cheap tinned tuna and salmon.

I've PM'd the blog URL and I'll try to get the offers more up to date so far done Tesco, Sainsburys and ASDA organic, all of Lidl, all of Co-op and some of Morrisons.

Success story.. well does getting into size 14 Marks and Spencer trousers count ? Six inches off since December :)

Sunnyday hi there good to see you post, you sound verry busy - at least the paint will dry quickly today :D

elantan - suggest you spill the beans on the cr*p you've been eating and maybe then we can figure out ways to combat your carb cravings. Is it the snacks doing you in ? Do you have biscuit-eating family about ? A not so secret addiction to pasta ?

elantan - what are you craving?

sheila (thanks) it seems to be anything and everything tbh ...

the things i have eaten recently yuck ...

a hamburger supper with brown sauce
    a 500ml bottle of cherryade
1 share packet of munchies ( ok i shared thankfully)
three handfuls of mini eggs ( purely cause they were there)
    6 slice of white bread
    fruit
magnum icecream lolly things ( 3 of them)
pizza hut ... had a salad bar half a large cheesy bites pizza and a bit ( not too much) of the banoffee dough cake thingy
    carmel cake

i seem to be slowly remembering now :(

now all of these things i dont like normally ( with the exception of the pizza hut pizza and salad bar ... i dont eat white bread i eat wholemeal , i only drink water i dont like fizzy drinks
munchies were for the pictures but i wanted them ... normally i go to the pics and dont have anything

i know i am addicted to sugar and i have been trying not to have fruit i lasted nearly 3 weeks without one piece of fruit but last night i needed fruit

i'm getting so fed up with myself tbh

i have put on 3lbs in the last week and really could kick myself ... i need to deal with this eating crap that i dont even enjoy cravings ... will try and think of other things i have eaten because i know there is more

it's been that bad i havnt kept a food diary so subconciously i am embarressed about eating it all and havnt written it down ... i have been keeping a food diary for a while now and do faithfully write it all down ... but these last few days i havnt written anything down as i think i am too ashamed of it all

i bought some lindt 85% chocolate ( couldnt find 90%) in the vain hope that if i get any more cravings then i will head for a square of that instead of all the crap i have been eating :(

Elantan, do you have others in the house? Is that why the carp is there already. If you can don't even have it in the house.
Also do you have anything you could snack on instead, almonds, berries etc?
And is it a hormonal thing? Time of month can cause huge cravings.

I've found that small carby treats DO NOT work for me, it's a slippery slope so I've stopped the weekly wholemeal toast treat. Going cold turket works best for me, once I've got into the routine I'm OK. xx

yep there is my husband in the house ... and just now he is dealing with other addictions so he will not get rid of all the sugary things ... he said when we come back from our holidays he will try :( ... dont get me wrong when i am not craving i can sit and watch him eat any of the above plus more and if anything i look at it and go yuck but when i am craving ....

not due my period just now either so dont have that as an excuse :(

i dont think carby treats will work for me either tbh so i tend not to have them ... i was just thinking that if i got a real bad craving i would try the 85% dark choclate first to see if that helped before i land up sitting with a 250g bag of mini eggs and stuffing my face :(
