I always ask for veggies or salad in place of chips, rice, potatoes etc when we eat out, its worth asking.

    Today's meals
Breakfast: homemade toasted oat & nut muesli
Lunch: big salad with spicy roast chicken thigh
Dinner: Bassa fish fillets with garlic topping, salad, coleslaw

Been drinking green tea all week and I'm peeing like a horse lol! Sorry, too much information!

Thanks for the organic shopping list Edwardia, think there's also a farmer's market in the local pub car park on Sunday so will have a mooch around there.

Was quite stressed today & I've really craved carbs this evening, so def a connection.

    Hi all!

Put on a kilo this last week. Think it's to do with stopping fags. Been eating properly for ages and have stopped all alcohol 5 days a week so that was likely holding off the weight gain till now (9 weeks fag free:j).

Anyway, this spurred me on to do some exercise :)

Went swimming on Thursday, found it quite a difficult experience as it's so long since I did it. Had forgotten how to, to a certain extent :) After 1/2 hour I couldn't properly use my arms so got out :)

Boyleg cossie looked good. Will look even better when it's not got my current massive belly n bum in it :rotfl:

Also now have a few Zumba dvds so will be working my way through those too. :D

Was so tired after work today (had to keep moving so I wouldn't seize up) that I fell asleep on couch and awoke at 2am, stiff as a board :rotfl: Now catching up on housework and internet stuff.

Will be back to bed soon

I hope that you got back to sleep ok Mercy. Glad that you felt good in your cossie, can't say the same but maybe one day. Well done not smoking for over 2 months :T

Edwardia - thanks for all of the info re organic produce, it is a great help. You do keep busy ;)

daska - hope that you managed to resist cake, if you made them. It must be hard as cake / dessert is really my ultimate weakness but I do well keeping to the almond pancakes and look forward to them. I managed to resist when out with friends the other day, whilst they tucked into chocolate tart and 3 scoops gelato ice cream I had a cappuccino.

avstar - you obviously have eating out sussed so well done :) I can't stand green tea but it is so good for you.

Padstow - as another oldie (61) I can say that the occasional treat and upping my carbs is something that I also look forward to when I have lost a bit more weight.

Have a good day and schoolhouse, where are you?

Oh no MC, can I never have Cod, chips and mushy peas even after my last stone's lost? That's how I was going to celebrate.
I'm an oldie, so to lose three and a half stone and build muscle will be some achievement so how else to celebrate?

You may find you don't even want it any more!

There's a chippy in the next village to us where we sometimes go and have fried fish without chips and they don't even bat an eyelid. I sometimes have mushy peas, DH has a pickled gherkin.

Depends what you call being an oldie. I'm about to be 77 in a few weeks' time.

I think I must have tried, or at least looked at, every weight loss system yet devised. Low carb seems to be what works best for me. Recently I've been reading what Zoe Harcombe writes and it does seem to make sense.

I want to get below 10 1/2 stone because I'm not very tall so that still puts my BMI into the 'obese' category. However I feel a lot better, am able to be a lot more active and move around more easily than when I allowed the weight to slide upwards gradually to nearly 13 stone, that was about 5 years ago.

margaretclare - I agree as I have also tried most diets but sticking to low carb is the only thing that worked. I can't say that I will never eat a potato as the occasional small new potato is a welcome change but I allow for it. You are better than me as I was nearly 20 stone last June and offered gastric banding but I have lost over 6 stone low carbing and it really makes a difference. BMI 34 so want to get below 30, if I can which means losing another 1 stone 8 lb.

Sheila - I got a few more hours of sleep and would feel fine if I wasn't in constant pain :rotfl: Swimming must be REALLY good for me :D

Should be ok for doing it again next Thursday.

Was going to Zumba today but really think it'd be better to wait until tomorrow. You just can't zumba with a zimmer :rotfl:

    Have a lovely weekend everybody!

Mercy - what is the problem?

Nothing serious, just aches and pains from exercising for the first time in living memory :rotfl:

Can't sit down for more than 5 mins without my left leg seizing up. I can feel every muscle I've ever used and each one is saying - 'you did this' ;)

Quite uplifting until I realise it's time to stand up and move about a bit :rotfl:

I know it will be better next time.

I know what you mean as exercise is uncomfortable when you first start and you need to ease yourself into it until you have built up some stamina. I started with 10 minutes a day and then increased gradually. I am still far from fit but I can walk for 2 miles now without hurting. murphydog999 would tell you more, I am sure, but don't do the exercise video without warming up first and only do a little please as we can't have you crocking up. Why I say this I don't know as you are not stupid but I have gone at it for too long and paid the price!!

Mercy - well done on 9 weeks non-smoking that's much harder than dieting :T

Sheila54 - well done on the 6 stone loss amazing :T

avstar - I like green tea too but haven't noticed any equine behavior :p

Thank you Sheila54 and avstar, I'm getting into organic because I just don't like eating chemicals.
