Mercy is at the Fireball there I presume. I'm eating Lindt Excellence 90% cocoa chocolate, drinking Evian and about to go off and read Jasper & Edward slash fanfiction online.

Have a good weekend everyone xx

Hi scott. once your partner's two weeks are up, the best kind of carbs to add are those that give nutritional value so more veg and fruit (not fruit juice as juice doesn't have fibre) NOT cakes, biscuits and pasta .

Berries and cherries are the lowest carb fruits so strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries etc. They can often be found on special offer and frozen are good to keep around. Berries stirred into Greek yogurt make a quick breakfast. Also berries make a good partner with cream, which makes a luxurious snack and gets more fat in the diet. TWO scoops (ONLY) of Kelly's of Cornwall clotted cream ice cream or Wall's Classics Cornish vanilla ice cream are around 12g carbs so fruit, cream and ice cream can be an occasional dessert or TV snack.

As for the amount of carbs, it depends how much weight wants/needs to be lost and how quickly.

The lower the daily limit the more will come off. However, many people find 20g a day very hard to stick to whereas 50g or even 100g are far easier to stick to and weight loss will be very gradual.

    It's choice really.

    How that helps

Been into town got 2 bottles of kefir from the Polish shop, for 1.50.

Picked up Natural Approach to Diabetes Dr Sarah Brewer (2005) from Oxfam, which recommends low carb diets as being more effective than low fat.

Found The Dukan Diet (2010) Dr Pierre Dukan reduced from 14.99 to 3.99 in local discount bookstore. Was perusing it over pub lunch and though quite a few recipes can be made low carb, I get the impression with the skimmed milk, cornflour, oatbran and non-fat yogurt that it's intended to be low fat not low carb.. there were quite a few sauces without flour that could be made low carb which might be useful.

Hi Mercy :T hope everyone enjoying sunshine.
  • Thanks for the Gourmet Britain link, Edwardia (I think it was you?) - apparently the farmer's markets really are the only places locally, along with one farmshop that I keep forgetting about - no idea about prices but will try and make a visit, perhaps over half-term, to find out. And try and go along to a farmer's market to see if they can tell me of somewhere nearby. There really ought to be somewhere, as I live in a village, albeit a big village on the outskirts of a large town.

Tried out Bossymoo's moussaka/lasagne for dinner with some almond flour pancakes I had in the freezer and also some layered courgette with the bolognese sauce, and the Philly/milk/egg 'bechamel', which worked really well! DS wasn't keen on the pancakes but loved the bolognese (my normal) and the sauce (the first lasagne sauce he's really liked) and DH said the whole thing was delicious!!!! Definite success. :-)

    Hi all!

    Food for today

B - 30g coconut oil in 130 ml ff goats milk with turmeric and black pepper
L - 2 hot n greasy chicken legs with lovely juicy skin on:D
Eve - chicken, peppers and onion in mediterranean cooking bag thing - much yum with salad and ribs, the others had tortillas with this. I did have a little quinoa (4tbls?) and it is nice. Cleaner mouthfeel than rice.

also fruit - strawbs, melon, rasps, apricot and mucho ff dbl creams :)

    drinks - vodilimesoda

My lovely sista had made this meal with me in mind :A:T:heart: I love my family and it seems they love me too. :j

Now all that does seem quite virtuous and it really was. :A

Then Fireball. Sista and hubby not all that keen but Bro v much up for it :D

Tried neat first - only me n bro keen. Seems it was the strong smell of the stuff that was putting people off. So made cocktails to see if that helped.

Ginger balls - Fireball n ginger ale - v nice. Still no takers from the 'no' camp.

Fireman Sam - Fireball n soda - very nice, cool at first with a burn after - well we liked it and it got a rating of 'better' but still no takers from the no camp.

Simon's cat - Fireball, soda and lime. Still feisty but sadly without balls :) Now this one was ok tasting and the lime completely killed the smell of cinnamon. Definitely a drink for kittens (wouldn't let me use the correct term but I think you get the gist). :rotfl:

Mum had sent a pass the parcel. At each unwrapping there were old fashioned sweeties like refresher chews and lollies, poppets, etc. I didn't succumb tho as I don't like it like I used to :)

All in all, with the help of my darling wonderful sista, I didn't do too badly.

A day of pampering for me n Sherlock tomorrow. Massage, grooming, salmon and snuggles for him, Long bath, facial, pedicure and snuggles for me. :T Maybe a film and likely a snooze mid afternoon.

Have a happy weekend all of you! :D

3.5lb down this week, very pleased with that. Did have some almond pancakes which I made for the kids with choc oat milk and overripe banana oops but they were tiny ones.

Today we might do smoked salmon and scrambled egg again, leftover cottage pie for lunch (cauliflower mash for me) and picnic tea later. Looks like indoor picnic as is teeming here. Will have 5 kids to entertain so going to make some collage flags I think. Glue, coloured paper, and some straws.

Better make myself something Dukan friendly before the tea party so I don't pinch sausage rolls...

    Thick white cloud here :(

Seems like you had a good time with the cocktails Mercy ;) and well done for resisting the sweets. :D

Quinoa has 25g carbs per tablespoon  so it's carbier than white basmati rice !
