murohydog999 I don't want to post the URL on the forum as that puts it in Google's search engine. Just don't want my work being copied by scammers again
Will PM you the address. At the moment it's not on search engines or listed on Blogger but if you have the URL you can read it and comment.
I emailed Diabetes UK yesterday and gave them flea in earThey'll probably ignore me but it made me feel better !
I've also emailed Gary Taubes because I wanted to thank him for writing the article that started me on the path though it would have taken me longer to get started if I hadn't emailed with Dr Lustig.
Angelfeathers - wow you're so organised !! :T0 -
BBC news says Martin Lewis has sold moneysavingexpert.com to moneysupermarket.com for £87million. Well that'll be Martin Lewis' penny-pinching days over for good huh ?
Wonder what will happen to the forum ?0 -

Sorry if it sounds obvious - you have probably thought of this, but just in case - have you got any farm shops close by, or people that keep chickens? My farm shop eggs are £1.50 for 6, rather than £2-ish in the supermarket. They aren't all the same size, but who cares!
When we eventually sell our house, the aim is to have enough land to keep chickens, can't see it being cheeper (:rotfl:) in the short term, but very satisfying.0 -

Even better buy them direct from the farm. We generally pay £1 per half dozen. They are so big the hens have to sit on rubber rings.
Several of our neighbours keep hens. You really don't need much land at all. There is a glut of eggs at the moment, people are giving them away.0 -
Anyone interested in the MSE sale story can tune into BBC Radio Five Live 693 and 909 medium wave (AM) at 12.10 when Martin Lewis will be giving his only interview. The interviewer will be asking him whether he'll quit using 2 for 1 vouchers now0

I have thought of that, but haven't managed to find anywhere local on the net and don't know how else to find them! We do have farmer's markets in the area but they're always on Saturday mornings and I have dancing (and son's dancing now) which takes up most of Saturday mornings so can't get to them. :-(
Any tips on how to find local people with eggs would be greatly appreciated!I'm broke, not poor. Poor sounds permanent, broke can be fixed. (Thoroughly Modern Millie)

Hi all
Having a bit of a cookathon this morning. Made cottage pie topped with cauliflower mash and I have made two of the cauliflower pizza bases. Haven't topped them yet, think the big one with halve and freeze, and I'll have the little one for supper. Also got some high meat content sausages done so breakfasts over the weekend sorted. There's enough cottage pie to feed me and the tots again (we've just had one batch, they wolfed it down!).
Lol, have had my bedroom carpet fit today. After a trauma where I had to go up this morning and choose another as my piece had come a metre short... Anyway, the tots were having their dinner and my 20mth old had me in stitches as they were clattering upstairs. She was shouting "stop bagging!" at the top of her voice, which I think means stop banging, haha, she is such a bossy little moo, just like her mammy

There's generally a list of stall holders at markets, poss. on your local council website, if they are coming into your area they must be fairly local? You could maybe ask a friend to have a look for you and get some contact details?
(I found a duck egg supplier this way, didn't come up anywhere on the internet, but their contact details where on the farmers market website.)0 -
I'm on a budget but i tend to bulk buy, it's one way of making sure i stick to it, it's also better value with p&p.. got a huuge 5kilo bag of golden linseeds (flax) for bread making from here

Tesco often has huge bags of almonds on offer, i grind them into meal in my magic bullet and Aldi have good prices on everything else i use.
Thanks for the link mazzers. I've book marked it for future reference :T
I used to keep chickens at our last house - on not much land - and the eggs were delicious. I used to sell the surplus and the money just about paid for our own eggs, so they were "free"
That was before the salmonella thingy thoughI'm not quite sure if it's as easy now.
