Sorry devildog - it is hard xx
mazzers - how are things?0 -
I'm still here
Work seems improved, dunno if it's the new meds or not, sometimes i get sick of the workload, reach the end of my tether and then things seem to improve.
Still lc-ing, not weighing tho as indulged in the odd free choccys in the canteen, but not had heartburn/bloating which is a good sign.
Bread is my weakness, totally addicted, never been a crisp or biscuit person (do have them occasionally) couldn't stick to lc without my lc loaf, i now love the smell of it toasting, smells a bit 'cakey' keeps me happy
By the time i post i've forgotten what i wanted to say to peeps. Not being ignorant but if i dont comment straight away.. it's gone
I do find myself nodding and smiling when reading tho.
I used to go googling and researching but Edwardia does it for me now lol.. keep up the good work :beer:0 -

Reading last night, Hungary has told people with diabetes that if they don't comply with Hungarian diet policy for diabetes, they won't get the better drugs and insulin !
New diet out.. Fulton A. Venice (pen name) has gotten a 7 figure deal for his low carb diet book, Six Weeks to OMG: Get Skinnier Than All Your Friends which involves drinking coffee, cutting down on broccoli, skipping breakfast and taking cold baths. Not one I'll be doing..0 -

What? I'm all for motivating people but what about human rights?? And what if their policy is wrong? And what about all the other people who may need to restrict their diets for other medical reasons - are they being subjected to this too?0 -

According to The Huffington Post, the rules are already in place. If your Hb1Ac is above " average" then they won't give the more expensive analog insulin and seems they are enforcing the three monthly Hb1Ac as well.
No it's just people with diabetes at the moment, as the Hungarian government spends 30 million forints (approx £82 million per year),
The cost of treating diabetes in the UK annually is around £1m per hour or at least £9 billion, as expenditure on diabetes is 10% of NHS costs.
For type 2's the prejudice that we are wasting NHS resources is already there, that the disease is self-inflicted. Well no, actually it's cr*p health advice (originated in the USA, based on agribusiness power there) which is blighting our lives and will continue to do so.
Diabetes UK corporate sponsors include Kellogg's and Shredded Wheat. I just emailed them and told them that their advice to eat starchy carbs is wrong and that I have low carbed myself to better health. Of course that means dropping meds which saves the NHS dosh but does nothing for all the drug companies sponsoring Diabetes UK.
Anyone else with diabetes cheesed off with the attitude of the charity supposing to represent us ? info@diabetes.org.uk0 -
devildog... so sorry to read about your dog....how are s/he and you doing?

I know what you mean, but when I had a "f**k-it"period a few years back, I gained a stone+ and realised then that I REALLY didn't want to end up as a fat, sick little old lady, like so many I see when out and about!! So, that's when I discovered LC, then ZC, and I no longer harp on to myself about what I can't have to eat, as I KNOW those foods will give me a body...and lack of good health...that I don't want..... carbs are a catch22 - they are comfort food and give us pleasure and then our blood sugar crashes and so do we, needing more food.
I'd call them the Devils own drug ....being as addictive as niotine and heroin.... but foods we've been fed since birth, firstly via mother's/bottled milk....and they're in something we take into our bodies daily, ie. food!!! The fact that so many manufactured/proccessed carb foods are now available, besides the ones found naturally in foods such as fruits, veg, eggs, shellfish, organ meats and dairy, means we live in a carb-overloaded enviroment, within a society which has become sicker and more diseased the more carbs are eaten...especially the proccessed ones....but they're MADE to taste good (read addictive:eek:!!!), so people go back to buy more 'cos they're all but irrisistable and CHEAP:eek::mad:!!
My favorite food combo used to be multiseeded Ryvita's with crunch peanut butter and either, any kind of hard cheese, or Acacia honey....the latter was just like a Snickers Bar/Crunchie type thing...heavenly!!!! I could eat LOADS :eek:of these two combo "sandwiches" till I was more than stuffed!! But the funny thing is that when I had a slight deviation...fell of the wagon!!...and tried these favourites again over Christmas, they just didn't taste as good!!! My woe seems to have altered my taste buds and rewired my brain somehow...and they are just not appealing any more :j....fingers crossed it stays that way!
G-R-E-A-T, confused76:j....12.5 in a month is a VERY impressive loss!:T:T...hope you're feeling chuffed with yourself, 'cos you should be!
