I did miss my chips on the side though! what desserts are ok, or is it best to avoid? Are we allowed sea salt?
Only if you don't put custard on it.
Salt is OK in moderation. It doesn't matter whether it is sea salt or salt from a mine under Cheshire. It's the same stuff, only the mined stuff doesn't have fish poo in it.0 -
nutty babe those burgers sound lovely , if they are slaughtering their own meat you would think it was good and low carb , i made a sausage patty for breakfast yesterday , just took it out of its skin mushed it together and pan fried it , that made a change and i really enjoyed it
i am glad you think that as well!sausage patty sounds nice. i got 2 huge packs of sausagemeat from the butcher as well and am planning on making scotch eggs but been putting it off as i think i will need to make alot but could make a few sausage patties with the rest. sorted!

Sounds like everyone has had a good day with lots of yummy food
Mazzers - glad you are feeling a bit better.
Well I weighed today and I lost the 3lb I put on over Easter + 1 extra pound. I am well chuffed. My ex started last week and lost 7lb.
My grandson made a chocolate cake with icing today and the smell was driving me insane so I have made some chocolate cakes using cocoa, carbs 2.5 each. Not very chocolatey but fills a hole!! Will add some melted chocolate next time and maybe some cream cheese frosting.
Any new ideas or recipes greatly appreciated. Sausage patty sounds nice!0 -
Ah Sheila, glad you've started losing again
Daska, thanks for that extract, i dont read a lot about lc anymore.. explains a lot, maybe i need to up my salt then as my potassium is already low and i've had problems in the past, also could be why i'm lethargic, also explains the strange 'fainty' dizzy feeling i was getting.
Been ok today as i've not been lc-ing.
I'm going to try sausage patties too as i'm not keen on sausages but love a scotch egg.. weird!0 -

i made a scotch egg the other day with sausage meat , i didnt add pork rinds on the outside i just pan fried it , and the sausage meat shrunk and fell off the egg
maybe i should have chilled it before frying .

Sorry but that made me spray tea over my laptop, i pictured boiled eggs rolling around in the pan.
My sausage meat was rather moist and the crushed onions stuck rather well, i oven baked mine and they were great.
When i did IF last i had different hours and regular break times.. it's gonna be nigh on impossible to find a regular 5 hour window.0 -

Fast while you're sleeping and extend it through until whenever your lunch break isFrom what I've read there seems to be a good argument for not making it regular as the body might cease to benefit.
Funnily enough I started putting on weight when I started eating breakfast, usually because I started feeling hungrier earlier in the day if ate, whereas I could happily go until supper time if I didn't bother. Eww fish poo in my French sea salt absolutement pas ! Sacre bleu ! Good job I hadn't just eaten eggs.
Sea bass for dinner was lurvely nice big whole fishes out the freezer that were £4 each in Morrisons (50% off) with leeks and carrots.
Jelly depends on your attitude to artificial colourings, sweeteners etc and gelatine, I guess. Supposed to be good for nails.0 -

I know some people find the more science based books boring or challenging but I find it really does help to understand the 'why' as well as the 'how' of low carbing. I would thoroughly recommend Stephen Phinney and Jeff Volek's "The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living: An Expert Guide to Making the Life-Saving Benefits of Carbohydrate Restriction Sustainable and Enjoyable" and Taubes "Why We Get Fat: And What to Do About It" You can get a lot from the youtube lectures and newspaper articles but I think the books do it more systematically and effectively.Eat food.
