Tum te tum. *taps fingers on desk* It's only 4.20pm ish and I am STRUGGLING. Why is this so hard to get back into? I am no longer full of positive thinking...I am just moany now and I can't stop pictures of crisps, chocolate and potatoes coming into my head. I feel like a junkie going cold turkey.

    Sorry. :o

How long was it before you all began to see results? (on the scales or otherwise)

I know ive only been doing this for 5 days now (and yes I am the worlds most impatient person)
    I actually feel (clothes-wise) fatter!
I have some ketosticks - I was in ketosis yesterday, now, according to those, I am not anymore?!?!
I did have a couple of vodkas Sat night but they were little ones, hardly a crime against Atkins.

I'm literally doing this hour by hour at the mo'. :(

I've just had salad with cheese, chicken and egg mayo (not all mixed together iyswim). I suspect I've had too much cheese and too many eggs today but I've decided it's better to overeat on low carb stuff for the first couple of days until I adapt again rather than run the risk of giving in completely. Once a few days are past I'll tighten up again.

This seems harder now than it did at the start. However I have seriously, seriously eaten lots of high carb junk food recently so I'm assuming the more I've had, the more I'll crave.

I hate this. I'm in such a bad mood.

Hang in there alias, i always find the frist day or two very difficult, and also eat all the time until ketosis kicks in and i can tighten up, so eat if you're hungry, i have been known to pick up a cooked chicken from tesco and scoff the lot in a day (possibly a sitting)

Daisyclaire, you might see results already, certainly should see a good few lbs the first week, but dont be disheartened if you dont cos we are all different.

Had a good day food wise.
  • Right I'm back!!

Glad you have been strong alias :j Someone has to be on this thread

I know it's difficult to start again but you know we are all behind you!! We all want you to succeed because we know you will feel so much happier & healthier in the long-term. You gave a great pep-talk the other day & were so positive so just get back that feeling of 'you can do it' !!

Your meals sound fine to me - the cooked chicken in the fridge for nibbles is a good idea as well. Have you been trying to drink more water?? I know you don't care for it much. Is it more bearable with ice & lemon in?? Just trying to think of things to help!! Diluted juice??

Finally, can you get out for a walk?? A sneaky jump on the trampoline?? A furtive dance to an old '80s tune?? It will improve your mood, I promise!! :D

  • My boyfriend has decided he doesn't like low-carb, says eating high-fat makes him feel sick. So now I'm really confused about dinners. There are a couple of dishes we can both eat, by me adding fat on the plate and him adding carbs on the plate. But we can't eat the same dinner every day for the rest of our lives. I am a bit upset because it looks like we will end up cooking separate meals for ourselves, but kitchen is too small to do it at the same time, so will end up eating separately every night. We used to eat at a table together every night, then we moved to somewhere with no room for a table, now it looks like we won't even be eating at the same time. I hate that :(

Does anyone else make multi-purpose meals, for low-carb and non-low-carb at the same time? Does anyone have any ideas how we can still eat together?

    Today I had:
    B: homemade yogurt
L: cottage cheese, coleslaw, salad leaves, cherry tomatoes and cucumber
D: quorn and vegetable curry with extra butter and cheese, followed by two quorn chicken slices
Drinks: 2 litres squash and a cup of tea with milk
Exercise: cycle commute, 20 mins cross trainer, 15 mins upright bike

Speaking of cottage cheese, I found a nice non-runny full fat one. Waitrose! Typical it would be somewhere expensive. Haven't managed to get to a big Sainsbury's yet though.
