Right girls I am investigating the idea of calorie counting! any one had any success with this ?
I was thinking about WW but been there done that I want something a little flexible - I guess the points thing is the same as calorie counting really but all I have memory wise of WW is counting to 20 each day and eating loads of rich tea biscuits.
and with WW I found it impossible to maintain but perhaps with calorie counting and working off extra calories with exercise ........ opinions please!Nevertheless she persisted.0 -

Hi Buffy
I have done calorie counting in the past and to a certain extent I still do. When I did it strictly for the first few weeks I carried a notebook and calorie guide with me everywhere and literally wrote down everything that passed my lips! Allowed myself about 1250-1400 per day.
Now, in an average day I roughly tot up my calories in my head but where I go wrong is I don't weight portions of things like cereal and pasta, and if you don't guesses can be waaayyyy out - then it all falls down

I am going to give it a go!
And my exercise will be skipping and doing my walking video. I think instead of ordering on Amazon I will walk to the high street tomorrow and buy a skipping rope and a calorie counting book.

Buffy - think calorie counting sounds quite a faff but on other hand is very flexible and I think it is good to know the cal count of what you are eating.
And also it really comes down to the basics of weight loss - you consume less calories than you burn so you burn fat instead. I used to live with a nutritionist and she was very definite on this matter, all manner of fancy diets don't make a difference, they are all different ways of achieving the same thing. She was doing a presentation to some doctors and one asked about Atkins and she said the reason it was so successful was because it has about 200 calories less per day than other diets.
I mean following an interesting diet is a good way of keeping to it and I know that some people find certain diets easier to follow and more successful but it comes down to the same thing really.
I bet skipping is a lot of fun! I swept my flat this afternoon which was enough to break into a sweat! I really need to get fitter!!!
I can't wait for VSS to start our TV ad workout! Goodbye bingo wings (hopefully following by back fat, chunky thighs and leading eventually to a lovely flat stomach!)I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

Hi all, am not doing a food declaration as have just been grazing all day, had a bit of chocolate but apart from that not too bad.
Have done nothing on the decluttering as got a bit sick of it and needed a break, but am off to the charity shop tomorrow with some books and then home to do some more sorting and cleaning which I will count as my exercise for the day.
bufft, good luck with the exercise and calorie counting, I have a skipping rope lying around here somewhere, probably still in the wrapping:rolleyes: I always think that if I have these things they will work by osmosis, it never seems to enter my head to use them, I just feel virtuous for owning them;)Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
