Now feeling really guilty cos an old friend just sent me a really sweet message on FB - it's not all bad and it wasn't him I was talking about! it is good for keep in touch with folks that you can't see often but keep in touch with but why do people need to tell others what they are doing EVERY minute of the day?
Having some wine as a reward for sorting out my musicmagpie stuff.

Didn't you do some matched betting Buffy? I was sure I saw a thread ages ago where you were doing some..
Yep I started "won" about 50 quid and then got REALLY scared!!
All my plans have stalled. hate the way my life depends on other people. <-- not talking about matched betting here, plans in general.
!!!!!!!!!!!Nevertheless she persisted.0 -

Hi makeupThanks Dan and SBC - really made me laugh!! I wonder if it is real?
Alledgedly it is - but then this is the internet, so who knows..!Dan - what a great plan! I'd love to have that on my horizon!
Thank you. I just have to wait to find out if my application to escape has been accepted, and then it's the really scary bit - deciding what to do with the rest of my life!
I've worked shifts since I was 17 though and I'm just worn out now. Also this is the longest I've been single in my adult life and working four evenings a week really isn't compatible with meeting people (not necessarily in a romantic sense, even potential new friends get fed up when you can't see them for weeks).I have to admit to being a fan of facebook.
Me too but - like MSE - I try to mainly look at it during work time rather than my own.0 -

Exactly- Dan we need you! I am going to give it a go too, I appreciate that it will take a while but am happy to devote some evenings and weekends to it to start with and see how I get on. I did some a couple of seasons back & made several hundred but it was too time consuming for me to do on a regular basis. I'm going to start again at the weekend though to try & fund the OU courses.0 -

I know what you mean. I seem to go through a phase where I get really enthusiastic about it, then get scared and completely back off. I need to give it a proper go though. I mentioned it to my Mum - big mistake! She seems to think I'm going to become a gambling addict, ha, ha! I did point out that up until now the only thing I think I've become addicted to is chocolate (and possibly MSE).
Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0 -
I've left my purse at work and really really hope it is in place when I get home.
 I did that last week, found I only had £1 on me when I got to work and spent all day worrying whether it was still in my room. I hate it when that happens.:mad::mad:Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
maybe one day Matched Betting funds. I appreciate your honesty about the time required Dan29 & know that if I set my mind to it I can do it, just dont have the head space right now.
Yep it's like a job in that sense too: takes up a lot of time in the beginning as you get to grips with it, but then can be done more quickly once you've got the hang of what to do.
You don't need to be a mathematician to do it, but it's not for everyone - in the same way that I couldn't be a plasterer and many plasterers probably couldn't do my job. It's just different people having different abilities.Sometimes I am not a very nice person
Your time and privacy are valuable. If she sends you a load of old carp it is your prerogative to ignore it/her - otherwise you're just not being nice to yourself.0 -

Thank youNo such thing as a stupid question as I believe it says in the forum rules so it must be true

I was the same; it took me a while to get started, partly because it seemed too good/easy to be true. It gets easier once you're into it, but always needs concentration and double-checking .. so I wouldn't place any bets tonight for example, as I've opened a bottle of wine
I mentioned it to a few people when I realised that it really did work, but soon learnt my lesson - most people react in the same way your Mum did, so it's just easier not to tell people..0
