gwen, I definitely agree with Buffy, a diary might be good motivation, or you can just post on here given our inexplicable move over to the diary board.

Also agree with avoiding ex on facebook - no freaking drama!- you don't need it.

I have also realised that by the end of this month I might have to be putting food and petrol on the cc, even though I have paid it off. But if it's what you need to do to keep going then just do it and don't beat yourself up about it. You can sort it out later.

I'm with Buffy on this one, she speaks sense :D

I'm also having a very minor panic attack as I only have 16 days at work left before I leave and still have sooooo much to see! I'm meant to be in the washery today but can't get hold of the guy in charge which means I may lose another entire day :(

Gwen, sometimes it needs to be done (cc) but you realise it's not a good idea and you're making a plan, it's not like you are just adding recklessly to debt.

Thanks guys. I'm just having a meltdown. It's probably overdue. I haven't had one for a while and I'm desperate to pay off the CC and get my house in a habitable state.

Does anybody else think that being single gets them into trouble? I really think I need somebody to rein me in, in most areas of my life and to bounce ideas off. Without it, I end up making a complete mess of things, like this.

TDQ - What's the washery? And what stuff do you need to see? You're going to Sydney?! That's ace. I've been to Oz three times now and never made it there...one day...

Back again...Sarah, I think I read that you've got some self help books. It's something I've been thinking about for a while. Are there any you can recommend? Obviously given my current situation I need to be careful how/when I purchase these...

Yes, definately :o I like not having anybody to answer to but sometimes I really need somebody to tell me to get a grip, whether it's over-spending or over eating! :D

    evening all,

first of all huge hugs to Gwen ((( sorry that'll have to do, my smilie box on the blink again )))

Agree with Buffy re being friends with the ex. I reckon he just want to look more popular & show that he can remain friends with his ex - idiot -

Yes also to getting through he month on CC - what the heck, a girls gotta eat.

Which brings me nicely to the fact that I have just had a small bar of dairy milk & very yum it was too :)

DD & I have been painting all day & managed to do more walls than I thought we would. I'm very happy because the tin of paint that I bought when I last decorated living room was useable. Embarassingly it has a date stamp on it because I had it mixed. November 2002 :o. I thought I'd need 2 at the time but one was plenty so I've never opened it & was half expecting a mouldy, stinky tin of sludge ... but it was absolutely fine :j.

We managed to move the book case & I decided to move the shelves so that all the tall atlas type books can now fit standing up on the bottom & therefore get used . We have one less shelf but it looks so much more tidy & I managed to get rid of about 10 books of which 3 were DDs. when it comes to her young ones she'd happily pass them on but I have to keep them because they were bought by my mum. I keep all the recipe books she gave me for the same reason, most are unused :shhh: & will probably remain so.

I'm getting a bit panicky about money now as the cold light of day reveals my recent spending frenzy runs into the hundreds _pale_ & I've booked some pricey & non essential dental work for next week ... everything depends on how much work I have this week although DD away for the weekend with Brownies so can save on food.

Hmmmm next week end would be a good one for being whisked away .. wont hold my breath though

I had a similar thing a few days ago, I could kick myself for running up the CC again (I have no excuse just crap with maths and feeling sorry for myself)

I am also working on the house thing. Driving me nuts. Wow you have been to Australia :T :) . Am jealous!

And on the Self help books - Feel the Fear and do it any way by Susan Jeffers is excellent.

I will try and think of some others xxxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Nope, I find it helps! my ex was always spending money or encouraging me to spend it, calling me mean when I tried to rein it in so I felt sort of relieved when afterwards there was noone to answer to or consider (obviously DS but he's not involved in the financial decisions). I think it would be easier to meet someone else if I wasn't trying to save money though...

P.S. don't buy self help books - the info is probably available online. Have you any idea how many slimming mags I have bought and I still need to lose weight...:rotfl:

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: good point ! If only buying them was enough - I'd be a size zero by now
