Well done Lula! You've done loads! I am ridiculously lazy when it comes to decorating, but then the house needs quite major work so may aswell wait until that is done anyway.

Buffy - I know, I am so annoyed with myself. I knew I had to be careful these couple of months and what have I done? Maybe if I have a v.quiet month, really watch my outgoings and try and sell some stuff, I might be ok-ish. The thing is I'm sick of quiet months. I generally have one weekend away a month (staying at friends though, not hotels) and spend the rest of them bored.

I have been to Australia. I'm really lucky, although I have family over there so it's kind of compulsory. That's another reason to sort out my finances, I need to go out there again to see my family.

skint - I know what you mean. I guess it all depends on it being the right partner. I know that I shop out of boredom sometimes and spend money on trying to look nice, cos let's face it if I'm single when I look nice, I'm probably not going to find a boyfriend when I'm not. I guess I'd like somebody to come home and discuss things with and their opinions of situations and then I wouldn't have to contend with WT's and the like. Of course this is all based on him being a great guy and obviously being able to split the bills would be nice.

    Gwenx

P.S. Thanks for the book suggestions. I'm checking out Amazon aswell and compiling a list.
Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending

Back again...Sarah, I think I read that you've got some self help books.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Just a few:D:o In fact I have just been tidying and sorting one of my bookcases and thought to myself, "how did I get so many of these?":D I need to get rid of some I think. :o
It's something I've been thinking about for a while. Are there any you can recommend? Obviously given my current situation I need to be careful how/when I purchase these...

I suppose it depends what sort of think you are looking for, I have got into law of attraction type things in the last couple of years, which some people regard as a load of old tosh, but I like it, it all boils down to thinking positively really.

I would recommend "The Law of Attraction" by Michael Losier which is a short and easy to understand introduction to the idea and to focusing on what you do want.

Also the book which is free with Glamour this month called "he's just not that into you", which is by the same authors as another fab book I've read and sounds to be very similar.

Being Happy by Andrew Matthews, which SuSu recommended on here and is another really good book on being positive and is fairly short and easy to read.

Buffy is a fellow self help fan so she might have some ideas as well.

If you get any from amazon don't forget to go through the nectarcard site for the points.:D

Damn can't believe I ducked out and missed all of this!

Gwen: The washery is where they wash the coal after it comes to surface. This removes any plastic/wood/metal/stone that comes up with it and seperates it into steaming coal (for power plants) and coking coal (for making steel). It also washes out any oils or other contaminants whilst crushing it into a uniform size.

You learn something new every day :D

I still have to see the washery as mentioned, the longwall, spend time with the geology/geotechnic dept and fill in the gaps with the environmental, H&S side etc...

Luckily I'm going to the washery this arvo, want to get that wrapped up in 2 days at the most and get to the longwall next week.

    Re: self help

I too liked and loved 'Feel the fear and do it anyway' I think my copy is in my parents loft or I'd send it over to you.

That is my sneaky plan, my parents loft has a massive amount of my stuff that I off-loaded on them when I went to LA a few years ago and never took back.

Also occasionally I dump more books on them as they have more book-shelves than me!!!

Another self help which I haven't tried but which a friend really loves is 'The Secret'.

And of course the DFW way of reading these books is to head down to the library.

If you really love it and get on with it and feel you would refer to it often, then you can buy it!!!

In fact I might do that myself with The Secret.
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

    Hello,

anyone else feeling a bit monday tonight? I finally got my CCs under £5,000 - only 4 weeks after my target date :o. However, that's not really an accurate figure because I'm not counting the 0 % card as a debt .

I am looking forward to the hol & do realise just how lucky I am, but there's a part of me that doesnt want to spend much while we're away & would really like September to hurry up so I can back on with the debt busting for real  must be mad .

I have the book and DVD of The Secret, the DVD is a bit over the top but is quite easy to follow and motivating if you are in the right frame of mind, the book is much better and used to be one of my favourites, in fact I might reread it now you have reminded me.
