I know what you mean. I hate going to work functions at the best of times, I may have to rope a friend in next time just to keep me sane!

I keep thinking that there is someone out there for me, who will like me and appreciate me for me and not some stick insect, supermodel type but boy do I wish he would stop hiding behind the useless ones!

I have given up on the thought of ever being a stick insect, I just want my flat stomach back and to fit in my clothes.icon7.gif

I do also think there is someone out there for me but sometimes it is easier to imagine than others.

Summer you do sound much more positive :grouphug::T and I can see you showing your top two points!

Sarah stop being so hard on yourself :naughty: :grouphug: for goodness' sake. Looks are not everything and change takes time. And don't think we didn't notice you haven't replied yet with your five, so I'm starting you off with 1) funny, 2) caring and 3) F fabulous.

I'm going for 1) loyal, 2) thoughtful, 3) determined, 4) open minded and 5) kind. Looks wise I like my hair and my figure (the DD+ s are a particularly popular feature :D ).

    Hello girls! (and guys!)

I haven't posted for a little while. I was super busy with work last week and away for the weekend. I've just caught up with all the posts since Friday (I was lurking before then, but too tired from work to string a sentence together). I'm sorry some of us aren't having too good a time of things at the moment. I wish I could be all happy and shiny, but I'm not feeling too great myself either. I saw my Mum over the weekend and although she denied it, I think she's feeling quite down again. So I've spent the weekend trying to be happy and shiny for her, to try and motivate her. I find it so hard sometimes though. I struggle to manage my own emotions sometimes, sometimes things just seem hopeless and I feel v.lonely, but then when I have to be strong and buoy up my Mum, I feel exhausted. I have to do it though, because I won't give up. From what I know anyway, life just goes through ups and downs and all you can do is ride the downs as best you can and make the very most of the ups. Things WILL get better for me and my Mum and I'll work as hard as I can to make it happen.

Anyway, enough of my whinging. I wasn't v.good on the debt free front last week, but I'm hopeful of getting a free electric meter from The People last Sunday. I'm going to return 2 skirts I bought a couple of weeks ago as realistically I know I won't wear them, so they need to go back. I am going to get back onto the debt busting/generally sorting my life out wagon this week. I'm also waiting on lots of cashback and an insurance payout and once they come through should make a reasonable dent in the debt.

sarah (and anybody else who may be feeling carp about themselves at the moment) - Have you thought about doing a Goddess plan like Shoe Gal? I've been making a bit more effort recently with my skin and hair care and I do feel a lot better - still need to work on the diet and exercise though!!

TDQ - Hope you got back safely and are enjoying your trip back to Blighty (shame about the weather)

Summer - I'm so glad you're starting to feel brighter, I'll check out your SOA shortly. And I'm so pleased you're finding this thread supportive, it really is great here. We're all in the same boat at the end of the day and have to support each other.

Shoe Gal - Hoping the sun comes out again for you to wear those gold wedges.

Hello newbies!!!! You're in the right place!

Hi everybody else - makeup, Rosa, Pink, Paul....anybody else I've missed out.

    Hi Sarah

What an eloquent and poignant post. It sums up how I feel a lot of the time, and it's hard but therapeutic to see it written down

I agree with all those who have said what a fantastic person you are, please don't be so hard on yourself (you've told me that often enough!)

Some of the things you want to improve will show really quick results that will motivate you. I feel so much better for following my 'goddess plan'. if you read my diary you will see that I didn't stick to it 100% but I do feel 100% better for having shiny hair and pedicured feet. It may sound shallow but for me feeling good about myself is the first step towards everything else. I will join you and anybody else who wants to in a 'SAID Diet Club'. I am sticking to the 1lb a week aim and getting back on track after a bit of a dodgy week :o

Money! Sarah, you are debt free :j There are many, many people, me included, on this site who would give pretty much anything to be able to say that. I am at least 5 years away from being able to say that, you will have your house by then. You have got yourself out of debt and have proved that you can save - that is a fantastic achievement and one you should be truly proud of :A

Take care, you fantastic lady and wonderful friend

    Shoe Gal x :D

Thanks Shoe Gal. I was planning to copy your goddess plan anyway.:D The next 6 months are going to be a personal improvement project. I am going to make sure I do one thing in each area of appearance/debt/general health every day and the weight loss is ongoing.

I am not actually debt free:o I still have a loan which is quite small and managable but I hope to be debt free very soon. And I still have house savings:jTiny, but still there. :D

I am currently cutting out pictures from a hair magazine to go on my vision board to remind me of the end result.

I know i have been hard on myself the last couple of days, but I actually think it has been a good thing. It has been a good wake up call. I need to stop treating myself to snacks and wine when I am stressed/lazy. I need to take control of my life again.

    So my aims for Christmas:
    • a decent haircut
    • lose 26lbs
    • fill my ISA
    • get my house savings to 10%
    • clear skin
I said 2009 would be my year and it will be. I will sort it out. I will make baby steps and post them every day.

    So, for today
    • cut out hair pictures
    • took my vitamins
    • 1ltr of water
Hmm, not much, but I will do better tomorrow.
