Hi shoeGal, am feeling quite upbeat today despite earlier trying on the lovely sparkly top I was going to wear for a party on Friday and finding out it doesn't quite fit (think sausage bursting out of its skin for a more accurate picture)
It may have something to do with the fact the the top is a size 8, whereas I am quite clearly not. That will teach me to think, well it's got a bit of give in it. It has, just not that much. I don't think anything has actually. I just liked it and it was in the sale and the last one in the shop.

A fine and sunny morning to all you SAIDs...and a good night's sleep to TDQO, who I suspect may be needing rather a lot of it...;)
The cars are always female here too. Currently OH has Fern the Saab, and I have Greenie the Quality Street triangle-coloured old Astra. Before that we had Stealth the Laguna, so named due to her almost silent "carp, have I stalled her again" moments at junctions. Glad it's not just us...
Sarah - I have to break it to you gently, but the male chromosone sometimes malfunctions and they can't do tecchie things. If you do decide you want to get eBaying, and can borrow a camera to take your pics, I'll happily talk you through getting set up. However, I know your tolerance level for things boring
so I have to tell you that it is mighty tedious and I have to promise myself all kinds of (cheap) rewards for getting my eBay listings done.
Pink - What a pain for all that to happen at once! As Shoe Gal says, I hope you can cut yourself a little slack to allow some living as well as existing.
Buffy, I too have been lurking at yours, and I think the idea of your own space is a really good one. I'm sure it will help with finding a happier way to live together. I am sending you lots of positive thoughts and hoping you can find something lovely to do today and enjoy the sun.
For today, I am planning to sit out in the garden for a while, working on my new business plan, then just idling. I started reading Beach Babylon yesterday (yay for highbrow reading!) and it is making me snigger away to myself very nicely. Then I have a very princely £22 left of this month's budget, so there is a possibility of dinner out tonight. Or I could be good and MSE, and just not spend it at all...
Happy Sunny Sunday to you all

I know we are all not supposed to be spending but last weekend I gave in and bought some jeans that actually fit (rather than trying to squeeze into several pairs that are now too small) Not an expensive pair, only £20, but when I went out in them on Friday I felt so much better and consider it £20 well spent

Hi Pink
I'm sure you'll do it but please don't set your targets too high. I've been guilty of this, thinking I can live like a hermit and then getting really down. My new way of thinking is don't increase my debts, pay off what I can but still have a life, accept any invitations and don't put life on hold. 2 years is a long time to write off
Shoe Gal x
Pink, I agree with ShoeGal, a lot of my debt is down to thinking I can manage to live very frugally, getting sick of it and going on a splurge.
I would love to be able to get it sorted by just watching every single penny and I could probably get it done in 12-18 months if I did and I admire the brilliant people on here who do just that, but I just cannot live like that.
You have to have some fun or those 2 years will feel like an eternity. :eek:Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -

Is it bad that I have on my list, which I am not supposed to have but do, (because what is the point of looking for a man without having a checklist:p) "must be able to fix things?"
I have crossed out "must have hair" as you are not allowed to put things like that apparently, it being unfair to request physical characteristics as you would be very annoyed if a man had any on his list. I draw the line at hair loss through old age though. In fact I am going to write it back on. Seems a bit pointless to not fancy your own imaginary boyfriend.
But anyway, being technical is a must because think of all the money you will save through not having to pay repair bills. So it is very MSE I think and not at all selfish. If you do decide you want to get eBaying, and can borrow a camera to take your pics, I'll happily talk you through getting set up. Thanks Hollyberry,:A that is really kind of you, I have been inspired by you paying for your laptop with it.I had heard it was very boring and I have seen lots of people on here talking about how they have to force themselves to do it, will try to psych myself up and give it a go.

Good idea, might do some domestic things and then sit out in the garden with a book. Definitely go for the dinner out, if you have money left at the end of the month you deserve a reward for your excellent budgeting skills.:APay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -

Exactly, it has been ages since I bought something nice that actually fitted me, I will make sure it is out of my current account and does not add to my debts. That was on my list too... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: But I decided he had other redeeming qualities that would compensate, particularly as he is a happy soul and makes me laugh loads. Plus he is in no position to complain about my domestic inadequacies.
Shameful confession time: I have not only paid for my laptop with eBay, I have also paid for my holiday, and I suspect there is plenty left in my wardrobe which will pay for next year's holiday too. When I was working, I used to cheer myself up buying loads of clothes, with the result that I have several wardrobes full. When I think of all the money I could have saved...:o However, I will not be doing it again.
If you are going to considering setting up on eBay, the first step I would suggest is downloading Turbolister, which is free from the eBay site. I am assuming you already have an eBay account; if not, you'll need to sign up on eBay first, as Turbolister uses your same username etc. Turbolister means you can list things in a batch, which I find quicker, and you can prepare your listings gradually over a few days and check (if you are me) that you haven't messed anything up before it goes live. This also helps to stop the willpower from evaporating completely, as you can do it in short sessions. Here's the installation page: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/turbo-lister-install.html
I'm definitely with Shoe Gal on the feeling good about yourself. You know I have a treats budget, and it stops me from getting too down about what I am not spending. My monthly spend is probably about a third of what it once was, and there are very few things I still miss (although that might change when I have used up my backlog of Clarins).
Now off to put on the Factor 20, and carefully update the freckle count.
P.S. Andto Lula, who I seem to recall is working her socks - or possibly her lime green suede pumps - off at the moment. Hope it's going ok. x

Evening all... I'm going to confess that I haven't fully read the above posts, mainly due to my hungover state. This weekend has been expensive, about $200 expensive! However it has resulted in much drunkeness, much flirting and some hilarious photos!
I didn't get anywhere but this was a combination of not wanting to scare the new housemates and also the fact that there were 5 other incredibly frustrated guys there who were trying awfully hard to impress the girls and failing. I hate those kind of situations so I just sat back and played it cool... hence massively boosting my chances in the future haha!
Apparently one of them couldn't keep her eyes off me and kept flirting but I was oblivious... luckily she only lives 5m from my front door so there's plenty of oppurtunities to find out for sure.
Hope you ladies are all having a fabulous weekend! The size of a glory hole in an open pit should not be greater than the cross-section of the haul trucks that dump into it. Otherwise, you are bound to lose a truck, sooner or later. Source: Sergio Cha
