Ooh, thanks for this Hollyberry, what a great idea. Am planning to reinstate holidays as soon as I am debt free, am not keen on beach holidays but I do like UK city ones, this would be absolutely brilliant for pootling round galleries and museums (and shops):D without feeling guilty about the cost.

There are some really lovely places on the de Vere website - well worth a drool. I'd recommend checking them out on Trip Advisor though, as there are a couple of dodgy ones (one that does single rooms for £10 had some particularly scathing comments - they seem to be shower rooms with a bed en suite ). The Mill and Old Swan in Witney was absolutely gorgeous - the river runs straight through the grounds and over a weir. Plus there is a lovely clothes shop and accessories shop in Witney (where I managed to window shop but not buy ) and of course fab shopping to be had in Oxford when we are all ready to have our fully budgeted but nevertheless fine splurge... ;)

Hello! If you mean me, I'm here!

My laptop went bust the other night. Seriously skint but apart from that ok! Had said car service and mot and having to pilfer credit cards to cover a few payments and petrol until I get 5 weeks pay at the end of June. Tried to use the card today and turns out the chip is dodgy.

No idea what I;m going to do this week. Praying it comes in the post soon. Have about £30 to last the week in petrol and food and have mortgage money, overdraft fee and gym membership money in the bank. Everything else will just have to be late!

The joys of finishing a job and then having to wait and eternity for the first month's pay.

Apart from that though I am absolutely fine!

    How is everyone?

    Hi Pink

It jsut seems like one thing after another for you at the moment  You sound upbeat though, at least you know there is money coming at the end of June

    Take care

Ha ha, then would you believe that my GHD straighteners also broke and I had to buy a new pair? Sent the old ones to a repair service on Ebay but the circuit boards are burnt out and will take a while and my hair was really bothering me. Probably not the best time to have got them but have used them now!

It'll be pasta and beans until the end of June, it'll be a long 4 weeks! Still, no point getting down about it. I'm slightly worried but I'll figure something out.

I thought I'd hit it off only having a £320 car service, with £750 worth of stuff breaking in the past week and running out of most of my make-up at once again it's been an expensive month!

Now I've had a vent! Determined that I will be paying £1K a month to my £22K of debts, next couple of years is a write off but really I've spent so much money over the past 10 years and well, clothes last a few months then start looking like crap after they've been washed a few times, etc. Trying to focus on the other things in life as well now as just worrying about money.

    How are you Shoe Gal?

    :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Now that's one thing I just couldn't cope with...EVER!! And GHD's don't seem to have lowered in price either. I've often thought I need to set up some savings just for straightners because if mine broke I wouldn't be able to leave the house!!

I hope everyone's had a good weekend. How blinkin gorgeous is this weather!! Certainly makes me feel better even though I do moan when I'm out in it and too hot!

About my car...well it failed it's MOT last week but it only cost me £102 to get repaired which I didn't think was too bad. Obviously I'd prefer if it didn't cost anything but I could deal with £102. So it's set me back a week but I should still be able to buy the car next week all being well. I'll also have to live on pasta and beans but I think I can live with that when I'm the proud owner of my beautiful little Clio. I always wanted to name it but nothing has come to me so it's not having a name now. Does anyone else have a name for their car?

I seem to be really skint at the mo, but it's kinda my own fault, I really need to get my backside into gear re: NSD's etc. I thought I was going to get into it during May but it's not happened so I guess it's gonna have to be June.
On a positive note, I got a letter from housing benefit today to say that my arrears have now all been paid so I'm going to be about £22 a week better off, but that's going to go straight into overpaying something, don't know what yet. Probably the overdraft I was so mad about ( I have calmed down about that now :o)

I really need to start posting on here more often!

    Hi all

Thanks for the hotel tip Hollyberry, that could come in very useful.

Am glad to hear that my curls are moneysaving not just laziness :D

Sarah, any news on your ipod?

Accidentally went into town today but although I bought a bag, I also collected cash from the dress agency so effectively it only cost a fiver... and what's more, am going to take the old version to the dress agency so hopefully it will work out free. I also have a couple of pairs of wedges that don't stay on my feet so they can go too. Must eventually get round to sorting Ebay stuff.

I finally got round to putting up the TV stand but am still dithering what TV to get. May have trouble hitting my target for this month - then again it was quite ambitious, and I do have a couple of work trips away this month so that will stop me spending money. I will have to keep posting as motivation. Targets for this week you can nag me about... take lunch to work so can stop making accidental trips to M&S, and use breadmaker.

Right I really should go to bed now...

Sarah, any news on your ipod?

It is lost forever. icon9.gif Actually, I still have one corner of the room to declutter, I cannot think of any way it could be there, but I will try and then I will have to accept that somehow, despite searching the bin, I have thrown it out. icon9.gif

Am up very early as I just can't sleep, have weighed myself and I have lost 1lb which is [STRIKE]all down to yo-yoing [/STRIKE]the result of my sterling work.:j

Pink, I sympathise with all your recent expenses, it is awful when everything comes along at once. With 1k to throw at your debts each month at least things will be looking a lot brighter very soon, so keep your chin up.icon7.gif

Rosa, I will not join in with encouraging you to avoid M&S, I make many "accidental" visits, I love M&S. :D

Hollyberry, the hotel in Witney sounds fab, also loved the description of a shower room with an en suite bed:D I have never heard of Trip Advisor but will make a note of it, sounds very useful.

makeup, fabby tips about things to do, re your spontaneous trip to visit your friend, I shoud do more things like that but I end up thinking what;s the point, I'm not going to meet anyone so it is far too much effort to go, which I know is pathetic and not the right outlook at all, life is hardly going to be springing nice surprises on me if I sit in my room sulking.

I am going to a party on Friday where everyone is old/married/both and I have not been looking forward to it, but your post and one by Hollyberry about meeting her husband in her late 30s and not really expecting it means I am going to force myself to go and make the effort. However, in my usual overthinking mode I am wondering if I do go anywhere with the expectation of meeting someone does that mean I won't because it won't be a surprise? silly I know:o:o:o

Bowski, fab news on being able to get the car:j

    TDQ- updates please:D

FeeFee, glad you enjoyed your splurge, you can get the wedges next time:D

gwen, glad you are feeling better and getting winks and nudges, onwards and upwards:j

Lula, I hope your absence is due to wine and male company;)

Buffy, have been lurkin on your thread, hope you are feeling more chirpy, definitely agree that having your own space will make a huge difference and also you are a fabby sister:D

ShoeGal, am v impressed at the 5lbs, thank goodness for the baby steps plan:j

Moo, you are quite clearly the best type of friend a singlie can have :T

Apologies if I have missed anyone out.

I need a boyfriend. Not for my usual whiny reasons, but because I need someone who is technical and knows how to ebay. I could make quite a bit from the stuff I have lying around, people have offered to show me but I don't even have a camera and I have no technical ability whatsoever. icon8.gif If I don't get a boyfriend soon all my stuff will be vintage. icon8.gif

I have given a lot to charity in the past few months and at times I do think, "Oh sod it, I'll just take the whole lot, at least I'll have some space," but I can't help thinking about how much money I will be throwing away. icon8.gif

On the plus side my room is looking 10 times better apart from one corner, so I am feeling quite happy today, going to pootle about for a bit and then amuse myself with making a list of all the things I already have for the house I don't own yet to encourage myself to believe it is on it's way (very self help-y but it works for me icon7.gif).

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday. icon7.gif

    Hi Pink

I'm sure you'll do it but please don't set your targets too high. I've been guilty of this, thinking I can live like a hermit and then getting really down. My new way of thinking is don't increase my debts, pay off what I can but still have a life, accept any invitations and don't put life on hold. 2 years is a long time to write off

I'm the proud owner of my beautiful little Clio. I always wanted to name it but nothing has come to me so it's not having a name now. Does anyone else have a name for their car?

I have a Clio too, her name is Katy. My cars have always had names - and they are always girls!!! :D

    Hi Sarah - happy Sunday!

You are sounding upbeat, and well done on the weight loss :j remember your target is a pound a week until Christmas so you've hits the first week's target :A

Love the idea of 'accidental' trips to M&S ladies - what is it that's so alluring about that place  I went in the other day to look for a face serum that I had seen reviewed in a magazine that is much cheaper than my usual Estee Lauder - when I came out I'd spent nearly £50  including scrummy food stuff - the Estee Lauder stuff is £39! :o Not always sure I've got the hang of this MSE stuff :rotfl::rotfl:

Hope everybody enjoys a lovely, sunny Sunday - I've got loads of domestic stuff to do today :D
