    I've been Money Tipped!
Well we're off to Butlins for a long weekend in July:D
Staying at Bognor in Gold and got quite a few discounts - internet and schools out - £400ish for 4 of us, full board and I've told kids they can spend a max of £10/day on extras.

Don't care about the lack of snob appeal - off to Crete in June with the GrandP's and an apartment in Tarragon with the nearly stepkids in august - This holiday is just for the boys so if I have to put up with a bit of queueing - que sera etc.:T

Oh my gawd, which Butlins resort? I'd go for NONE. Had been there numerous times and am fed up now, I give them about 4/10, seriously.

Because at the time it was all we could afford, we complained each time with promises that it would be better next time, then we tried two different resorts.

Since things did not get better, we didn't go back. We went three times.

Just came across this & yes I know its old but I wanted to say we have been to Skegness Butlins for the last 2 years & its all our children go on about. From the moment we leave to the moment we go back again its "when we were at Butlins" or "I want to do .... at butlins next time" etc. I can't understand how people can say it is so expensive. If we say no to the children to have yet more junk from the joke shop etc they accept it, we don't have to explain ourselves. They have been brought up to understand money doesn't grow on trees.
Last year when we were on holiday my daughter fell off the bed & cracked her head open resulting in a trip to casualty. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, they arranged transport, collected us, made sure we managed to get food even though we were home later than the restaurant served until etc.
A truely fantastic holiday with people who really care about what they are doing & making the children as happy as they possibly can.
We will certainly be going back again.
The gold apartments are lovely but we will be a bit more cautious next time with the beds being so high but it was an accident & they were in no way to blame.
    hugs

Some of the independant holidays parks are far better than Butlins though. We'd never had a holiday until 3 years ago when I informed DH that we were going to a caravan in Wales for £170 for the week - the look on his face was a picture.

When we got there though it was a different matter. The place was spotless including the pool, although it was self catering there were loads of places to eat out and a takeaway and supermarket on site. The entertainment was first rate and the drinks were cheap. We used the site as a base to explore Wales during the day and couldn't keep away from the club at night as we had so much fun.

We haven't been able to go back yet but can't wait to do so.

We got back from Skegness Butlins yesterday. We went with an 18mth old and a 3yr old. The Silver accomodation wasn't very clean. We had a non-smoking apartment yet there was a pile of cigarettes outside the door where the kids wanted to play. There was a fasle nail lying on the bedroom carpet.

The kids loved the rides in Bob the Builders yard which were all free and very safe looking (lap belts on them). I hated 'Reds' as it was far to dark and loud.

The kids loved the swimming pools but the floors were filthy in the changing rooms.

The Skyline Pavilion was clean etc but the people let it down. It really does attract a rough crowd! I was very suprised that smoking was allowed within the Pavilion since its a family place.

I can't see me going back in a hurry. I have been before but I went with a group of Adults who have disabilities and I did enjoy it but that was in march when it was very quiet. It wasn't a school holiday when we went so I imagine it was no where near full, if it was full it would be very cramped in my opinion.
Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!
