Can I ask how much you paid? Were meals included or did you pay for them separately?

We stayed for 4 nights (Mon-Fri), and paid around £260 - this was on a B&B basis (2 adults, 2 infants). Breakfast was buffet style, but had an excellent and varied choice. The restaurant was also open in the evening but meals were extra - we ate in there twice...good food, no more expensive than a meal in a Cardiff city restaurant.

the thing abt butlins is the kids love it no matter how good or bad they love it my 11 yr old does.. me i need a holiday when i come home.. ive found skegness brill they do a great kids show and its all non smoking now in the kids entertainment.. if you dont like smoke in your chalets then go for non smoking if it still smells of smoke you can get them to change your room.. the swimming pool at skeggy has had a over haul and ive always found it clean and tidy not bad for thousands of kids jumping abt mental.. this is not a holiday for adults but for kids and the bigger kids in us all, the beach at skeggy is near the resort, but it can be expensive using some of the other things as unlike yrs ago there is added prices on some attractions. yes it can be noisey but then people are on hols what you expect.. so go with it watch the delight on the kids faces and well stop worrying you will probably have the time of your life..

forgot to say yes theres queing for shows but then there are hundreds of people staying at the resort but theres always plenty to do around the resort even if they are repeated throught out the day but its publicised when things on so you can plan your days around it

  • Come on all! Butlins is a holiday for the kids, they love it and don't really care if the accomodation is a bit on the small side or a little dirty. Don't forget when you go abroad the cleaning staff will work for nearly nothing but us brits won't get out of bed for less than £4.50 p/h. So if you want the place to be at 5 star standard you need to pay 5 star prices. Myself ,my partner and our 4 children go every year to Skegness, we stay in a caravan that we get for a very resonable price off Ebay. When we holiday we do like to let our hair down and we do spend a fortune on drink and the slot machines oh and takeaways and all that for £700 for the week completley all inclusive . We chose the Skegness resort as its only an hour down the road from us and at the end of the day once your on the resort you tend to stay on it. Our neighbour spent over £4000 taking his children to Disneyland last year and later on in the year took them on a cheap weekend break to Butlins. His kids are now nagging him constantly to go back to Butlins this summer, no mention of Disneyland. The moral of the story there I think is Disneyland inpresses the neighbours but Bultins holidays are the things that memories are made of. :T

We have been going to Butlins for the last 8 years, we started at Minehead & have become regulars at skeggie. The standard accom is basic but adequate, food is good, the entertainment has seen a gradual decline but its still enjoyable. The Redcoats do everything they can to keep the kids happy.
The only time I have complained was during the scottish holidays when families were drinking from crates of beer under tables, & that included the kids!!

I think cleanliness has much improved over the past couple of years..
The cleaning staff are mainly foreigners ( especially ay Minehead) and do seem to take pride in their work. When i went last autumn , the cleaner even left 2 chocolates on the bed ( and this was the cheapest standard accomadation).
The food was terrible though ( with massive queues) until we payed the extra £3 per day ( a special offer on resort) to upgrade to dining in the Yacht club. This was excellent except for Sunday night when the food had nearly ran out due to them doing such a good trade with the sunday lunch carvery.

The standard food at Skegness is much better. Skegness accomadation is a bit better than the same grade at Minehead too ..

At Skeggy last year the staff were mainly foreigners - eastern europeans. You can always go to Fantasy Island market / theme park
  • Too right a trip to skeggie isn't complete without a trip to Ingoldmells market.

when i was a single parent and my daughter was little we used to go to skeggy every year, and they did woicked single parent deals, so we got the top grsde accomadation and full board using vouchers for food.we went back a few years ago and stayed in silver accomodation and it wasnt as clean or plush.having said that the food was great on half board and theres tons to do for the kids.Id avoid the budget accomodation though !! Every time we went the pool was kept very clean, i have been to pontins though where the pool was full of dead flies
