This sounds like great fun. It will take a bit of organising, but I would love to come. The only thing is I'll have to persuade my oh to come too because he is the driver. Are there going to be many men there or will he be the only one apart from squeeky?

I know this is a bit premature but will there be an itinerary, or at least a meeting place/time? I won't be staying over as I live about 20 miles away from Blackpool but I'd still love to come and meet everyone. Besides, I don't want to feel left out cos it will be the talk of the forum for ages afterwards and I want to understand what people are on about!

Anyway, I will need to know what time people will be meeting up, and where etc. so I can meet up too. I hope you won't all be bringing OH's. I'll be on my own, feeling like I'm on a blind date with about 20 people. I know you aren't scary people and we all kind of know each other but it will be a bit weird. Am I on my own feeling like this? :o:o

I'm not bringing an OH, but I'm not going alone... You lot will be there icon7.gif

I do know what you mean though chickadee, no way will you be left out, I'll meet up with you too.

Lydia, I'm never sure of poster's genders so cannot answer your question, but I don't mind what folk are as long as they are friendly icon7.gif
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

I am female but my oh is dragging his heels because he thinks it will be a load of women talking knitting and cooking. He has said he'd come if there were going to be other blokes, but otherwise he isnt keen on a six hour drive and the expense of staying overnight. If other men are coming I might be able to persuade him. I wish I could drive and then I could come on my own.

Well i can reassure you 100% that i wont be talking about knitting or cooking so hes welcome to sit with me:D

Could you get a train maybe and come by yourself if OH is so against it - i know a few are doing that

I probably could, but I have never done anything like that before. I would need to travel into central London and then change. That feels to scary. I have never tried this kind of meeting strangers before and I would feel safer if oh was there. That might sound silly to you, but its how I feel.

Its kind of you to offer to sit beside him, but he might be better sitting beside somene talking knitting and cookng.;)

Doesnt sound silly at all Lydia lots of people are going up alone and will feel very nervous i would imagine. If you look at the population of the OS board though it does tend to be predominatly female so if your OH is wanting to meet other men then i would say because it its Blackpool which is a very sociable place he should have no problem

Or he can come for a beer with a load of women and squeaks!!:D

He doesnt want to meet other men he just doesnt really like the idea of being stuck with me and a lot of women. I know squeeky is a man but I cant see them having a lot in common. Squeeky is as old style as the rest of us girlies, but lets face it, most men arent. This is as odd to him as it is to me. He is happy to come and support me but I want to know that he will be comfortable too.
