Old Style Meet - 2006

Hiya fellow Old Stylers :hello:
The time has come to resurrect the idea of a meet between we OSers (and anyone else who wants to pop along, naturally
) We were going to meet towards the end of last year, but thought it would be too near the official MSE meet, so postponed. The official meet will probably be a while away, so here we are again.
For those who didn't know about last years plans, we were going to meet in Blackpool. (lots of cheap hotel)
I suggest we keep the same location, so we just need to decide on a date.
So far, I'm going with either Sat/Sun 8/9th April (week before easter) or Sat/Sun 22/23rd April (week after)
Let me know what you think and if these dates aren't suitable for most of you, I'm sure we can change (however, I know that there will always be someone who wants to come who can't make it on the chosen date. You'll just have to come next time
)

I can't make the 22/23 as that's Spuds Christening but I would really love to come if the earlier date suits the majority. Can't honestly say Blackpool would be my first choice of location but again if that suits everyone else I will go along with it:p IF there is going to be a good turn out. We have tried to do this in the past & it's always been a wash out, I don't mean to be rude but please can people be honest abotu their expectations of actually turning up 'cos it's really dissapointing to find only 3 of you have made it after all the effort, not to mention a huge amount of planning & upheavel etc etc. That said, I'd really look forward to it;)Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

Ok - the reasons for Blackpool are as follows:
1) cheap readily available rooms
2) although on the west, there is (or was last time) a lot of interest from people in Scotland and the SW - so fairly equi-distant for them
3) Lots of people from Lancashire wanted to come
4) I'm organising it, so close to home for me
Seriously, if anone knows where we can get CHEAP and available rooms in a more central location, then pm me and let me know. I tried loads of other options incl Travelodge £10 rooms and YH's - but no luck. Anyone travelling by train or coach - I'm sure we can sort out lifts to the hotel (can you imagine standing on the platform with a big card saying "taxi for Squeaky")

"Limo for squeaky" is better.
Count me in as a provisional, I'm going to need to know how much this is going to cost me before I can confirm.

Ok - I'll look at some dates in May then - I've not time now, but if any of you want to suggest dates?.....
Not last w/e in April/1st May (long weekend) please.
I may even have to work out how to do a poll?0 -
Currently any of the last 3 weekends in May (there are 5 altogether) look OK for me.
But TM, don't forget that the last of these is also a bank holiday weekend so people may be otherwise occupied.
Will also try to think of more central places than Blackpool with cheap hotels - it really is a bit tricky to get to from London. Somewhere like Birmingham might be easier to get to for the majority (???)Operation Get in Shape

Both May (avoiding the bank hols) & Birmingham would work a lot better for me;)Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

BTW i lied, there are only 4 w/ends in may not 5! But the first of these is not a bank hol (that falls on 29/30 April/1st May w/end). So, w/ends of 13/14 and 20/21 are good for me. First w/end of the month is out because we will hopefully be on holiday - don't know where yet though!

I'm beginning to wonder if there is a conspiracy that says internet meets will happen in Blackpool - this would be the 4th one organised there i would be trying to get to.
I have been to a meet in Birmingham that was affordable - will try and dig out the details if they'd be useful.Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!0
