Please can you start your own thread with an back story.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • Equita have said they will respond - they have send 2 letters 1) saying they are looking into the situation, 2) saying contact the bailiff direct. Both letters are dated the same date!

Herbie's advise is to sit and wait and keep her informed of progress...

Sounds par for the course at the moment. Stick with herbie and you will be fine.

Do start saving up what you can in the mean-time.

  • Thanks Ras, I am doing that, I have an account which is dormant and I am putting away the monies I said that I would pay them each month. It's not much but at least it will be something to offer when the time comes.

Again, thanks for all the help.:kisses: :kisses3: :T
  • Sorry but I have explained myself on this thread from memory.
  • Hi Diamondgal, just wanted to wish you luck. I'm in a similar position too. Herbie21 has been a lifesaver.

I would suggest paying the council via their website - they will pass it on to the bailiffs but at least you won't pay any surcharges like most bailiff sites charge. It seems ridiculous that councils refuse to deal with people who have arrears, instead passing them off to these vile companies.

  • if you cannot contact the bailiff, how are you meant to sort it out?

I was not entering into any communication until I got the breakdown on what they say I owe.
  • Birmingham city council have had very bad press with council tax lately.
