Equita always send letters saying they will be calling tomorrow etc. I never saw them once.

I went down the councilor route and got my problems sorted.

Equita also tried to add on charges but refused to tell me what they were for (until after I paid! :-))

Also if you have a council tax bill you can start to pay the council direct online (helps to show willing to pay).

They wont refuse the money and it will come off your debt.

Get a copy of the liability order off the council, this is the amount you have to pay. Add on £24.50 for the first visit and about £18 for the second visit (they will charge it regardless) and unless they have been in your flat, that will be the amount you need to pay.

    hope you sleep well.

    Two reference suggest two debts,

please can you ring the council in the morning and ask what the value of the liability orders are?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • Well I slept! :j

I contacted the council, and a very bolshy woman said: "Why have you lost the liability orders, thats a really stupid thing to do. Our systems are down at the minute. Call back in an hr."

I am calling back in 10 mins.. :D
  • I called back after the 10 mins but the line was engaged. I went to work and tried to contact them throughout the day, but no joy.

I finally got through and someone said they would call me.. I am still awaiting the call. I intend to keep trying until i get through.

I havent heard anything from the councillors as yet, but I suppose that's to be expected.

Which is interesting as liability orders are very rarely actually sent out.

E-mail the head of Revenues tomorrow if you do not get a response.

  • I thought I had'nt received the liability orders, but I have ignored my post, so thought it was my stupidity.... but if they don't send them out...

Emailed head of revenues for the breakdown of costs. Await a reply.

Bit disappointed I haven't heard from 1 of the 4 councillors I emailed... I called one and left a message to contact me.

No word either from bailiffs... Should I email them again or leave well alone?

I have had the exact same problem with equita aas you Diamondgal.

I went to my council today and they flatly refused to deal with me and my offer to repay the outstanding amount directly to them, including this years (09/10) bill.

I am writing a letter in the morning (and keeping 3 copies!!) to Equita, asking for a breakdown of costs and my Council Tax office for a statement of outstanding debts. Sending copies to both Head of Recovery at the council and my local councillers

I will keep you all updated.

Oh and hello by the way, im a newbie on a mission!!!
