Sorry I've not been on here for ages I have had a crap week. 1st the laptop breaks, called Acer as it is still under warranty and it has to go back for - gulp - 10 working days!! It was not charging at all so took the back off rammed a screwdriver in it and charged the battery and spent all night downloading all the important stuff onto my USB Key. Then yesterday was sitting working and had the key in the USB Port, DS plonked himself down beside me and I heard a crunch. What the hell was that? Then it dawned on me - the USB KEY!!! I think my world stopped for around 30 seconds while I took in that it was at a 90 degree angle in the port. All I could think was all my letters, spreedsheets, 7 years of accounts and my current Sage Accounting up until Feb was stored on the key.

After a mad panic my husband said is it still working? Plugged it in and there was a flashing light so it was an emergency trip to Comet to buy 3 USB Keys and I spent the evening transferring the info over to each key. What an absolute nightmare.

Tonight my specs broke. So that is the 3 things for this week/month - hopefully year!!

On the other side I spent the entire week before updating my website again and I've got a new look so if anyone who knows the address wants to give an opinion it would be most appreciated. I am featured on 3 or 4 voucher code websites now and figure the discount would be the same as paying to advertise elsewhere so that is OK with me. I have paid to get a good position on another website (not sure if I am allowed to mention on here) but I decided that instead of looking at everyone else advertising I'd start sending my own codes in and seeing where it got me. Nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that. I am getting a lot of views but I've had a quiet week, as it was the week before Payday and the school holidays I was expecting it really because women tend not to spend money on themselves when the kids are off, I've had a good start to this week though so that is all good.

Hope everyone else is keeping well.

I believe that on the DFW (Debt Free Wannabe) board they have a 'challenge' running to clear enough of your junk to make £100 a month.

I could probably make £1000 if I could find the time to list and sell it!!

Thanks Horace, I think it is a temporary blip while waiting for the good times. Got to think positive :) However, still got to do my annual accounts and am wondering what figure is going to be in those brackets...... I forgot to say up there though, I am using my husbands laptop and I have to hammer the keys really, hard to get them to work. How he uses it I have no idea, LOL!!

blue-monkey - it sounds to me as though the keyboard needs a clean, its probably jammed up with crumbs:eek:

I don't feel very productive today, I got up late:rolleyes: One thing I have done though is top up my work mobile (I am still on PAYG at the mo which suits me)

Actually, as its not raining - I think I will go and bung a load of washing on, that's the advantage of working at home:D

    Have a good day all.

Sounds a bummer of a time blue_monkey - we've all been there and can sympathise ... I guess sympathy isn't much help at the moment though. But ... the good times are on their way, so treat this as a test (by the way, you've passed!). And you managed to retrieve your work, so that's great.

I am posting myself a to-do list for today, otherwise I will forget (accidentally or not) the things I have to get done on my rare day in the office.
    • [STRIKE]Finish proofreading tile catalogue [/STRIKE]- done, and it was oh-so-boring
    • [STRIKE]add a few names to a client's mailing database and email it to her[/STRIKE] Done
    • [STRIKE]ring B&B to confirm a room for August (which I should have done weeks ago but forgot - hope it's still being kept, otherwise I shall be well out of favour with friend)[/STRIKE] done, room still in our name (oh, thank goodness - got a bit worried though when nice lady thought we were going in May, but all sorted now and I don't have to write a confirmation letter - blast, was going to be an excuse for putting off doing my accounts for a bit longer)
    • [STRIKE]ring good friend to wish him happy birthday[/STRIKE] done, but got answering machine so will ring again later (shouldn't have crosed through, but I like seeing things on my list get ticked off)
    • [STRIKE]ring printers to ask about printing a newsletter for a client[/STRIKE] Done, but they haven't yet got back to me.
    • [STRIKE]send out invoice 1[/STRIKE] :j - done, yee hah!
    • [STRIKE]send out invoice 2[/STRIKE] :j Done. Yes!
    • sort out paperwork to start on accounts
    • bit of admin for shop
    • [STRIKE]ring another friend because it's ages since we spoke and am feeling very guilty[/STRIKE] - done, but got another answering machine
    • carry on thinking about how I am going to pay builder's invoice - which after a long wait (for which I am truly grateful) arrived in the post today  update: can't be crossed off, but thinking - always thinking
    "Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.

There are 2 ebay challenges on the dfw boards, list 10 per day and a general ebay challenge where you set your own goal and work your way to it with the support of the thread! which are fab for motivation (like most of the threads here are!)
