I know you're business is in the Wedding Sector, is it the planning side you do or do you supply items as well ? (sorry, I couldnt work it out from what I remember reading ..... as I seem to recall mention of selling dresses ?)

Hey everyone
After a manic day yesterday - I worked virtually non stop from midday to midnite!! partly to fit in a new client, only had work this morning so I have the afternoon to laze about... just had a message put on my profile page on the language website (which EVERYONE can see) saying:
'We worked for the first time with Louisa yesterday. She delivered her work very fast and the response was very quick. Her sample translationa was considered very good by our native speakers.':D
I went to pay the £2.30 NI today, only to discover that I've misplaced the details! Doh
Horace: could you poss tell me/pm me how much ur public liability insurance is going to be, considering it myself.. was wondering how much it costs.
Keep up the good work ppl
Remember - the quicker we work - the sooner we can go sit in the sunshine(except in my case I cant as one of the other flats is having a new kitchen fitted I think and the noise is v loud! )

afternoon all, another stressful afternoon ahead of me. Have to rewrite (again!) some website pages - the website owner is having trouble conveyineg exactly what she wants - or i am not asking the right questions. Also have just 3 days to write 6 small articles. which i am finding boring.
Problem is that mostly I cannot sit down to write until 4pm and must finish by 6pm. During my morning job I catch snippets of time to do bits of research on the sly. I would get the sack if they knew I did this. I have even been known to write an article during work time (naughty).
I really want to do this full time and I have enough work to afford to but I am too scared to mention this fact to my husband as we have gotten used to the extra money. At some point I have to choose as everything else in my life suffers due to lack of time and feeling stressed out.
I love to write and I am good at it. I hate being a receptionist (but I am a good one and enjoy the social aspect). I feel like I am letting everyone down all the time in order to fufill my lifelong dream of being a writer. Should I expect my family to make sacrifices so i can persue my ambitions?
Oh dear sorry to bring the tone down again. Just the usual end of the month deadline blues0 -
Hi nzmegs - can't offer any useful advice, just sympathy!
If you have enough work, I think you should go for it. It's not really a sacrifice if you are confident of getting work. But anyway... you owe it to yourself to follow your dream.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
On the way back from posting my signed contract for my new accountant ( in case she's watching),

I may come to some networking events with you after the middle of June...I need to get out more...Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

I'd talk to your husband, nzmegs. You could offer it as an idea rather than say it's what you're going to do no matter what he feels about it. Let him know how much it means to you and offer ways of lowering your outgoings to make up for less income (although it may not even mean less income?).
I agree with Seaxwyn. If it's what you really want to do and you are as sure as you can be that it will work out you will regret not going for it and maybe even feel resentful.
Can you reduce your hours as a receptionist so that you still have a bit to satisfy the social aspect of it? If you can get good references from the company, you will be able to confidently apply for other receptionist jobs if the going gets tough freelancing (although hopefully that won't be necessary) - although if you get sacked for using work time for homers it may not stand you in good stead! Good luck, and let us know the outcome."Green pastures are before me,

I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
Well done, Starxtrouble.:T Lovely feeling to know people appreciate the work you do."Green pastures are before me,

Greyhound - I have always had va va voom - I can never sit still for long, I always have to be doing something. Mind you I don't always have va va voom, I feel self conscious and lack self belief sometimes:rolleyes: I have always been the same and I am too ruddy impatient (proven by my deciding that I wanted to be out there doing things and popping out 2 months early much to my mother's annoyance:rotfl:)
I plan weddings but as a result of a trip to an auction when I stupidly bid on a box of stuff and got three boxes instead:j, I ended up with stuff to sell (must get photographing and listing some on ebay) but in the bottom of these boxes (I couldnt see as the box was too big and the table too high) I found 4 wedding dresses:j The cheapest one was marked at £250 and the dearest one at £1925:eek: I am going to sell these dresses through a local couture shop as she has agreed to hold a sample sale for me:D They are too good for ebay.
I am actually waiting for a photographer to come and poke through the stuff as he wants some props but its getting to the point that I can't wait for him as I want my living !!! dining room back:D
Sammy, you are welcome to come to networking events with me - are you a chamber member? I know that you can go to the Women Who things as a non-member but you have to pay £50 plus VAT for them:eek:Also if you fancy a chill out session at the dayspa, let me know (no kids allowed really) and we can go unwind - I have a guest pass going spare:D
I had better get on with some work I suppose - stuff to print out, fill in and send off:rolleyes:0 -
Thanks for the advice everyone. Yes need to stop complaining and get doing!
Unfortunately I can't lower my hours at work and have been searching for another job but hard to come by right now!
I am in negotiation for a blog editing job right now too. Which won't take long but ups the income just a bit. Every little gets me closer to the point I can say that it's time to leave the job and do this full time.
My friend is a book keeper and has a full time job too - she has been up till 1am then getting up at 4am to get her end of year stuff done. At least I haven't had to do that!
Horace sounds like you are really getting moving. Well done. You sound really motivated right now. it is inspiring!0 -
Any eBayers on this thread?
