Morning everyone. I'm feeling fed up today - got loads of bills to pay, direct debits that are missing payments and getting charges, and no payments off people who owe me money. It's so frustrating. I had one customer last week pay me early, but that money was soon swallowed up by bank charges.

I'm owed so much money at the moment and pretty much everyone is behind in paying me - some by just a few days and one by five weeks. One of them claims they paid me by BACS two weeks ago - err, don't think so! Anyway, I have taken the advice on this thread and chased them up, and the next step is to get hold of some pink paper and I'll be sending out some stern pink invoices this week. So at the moment there's nothing else I can do apart from stare in dismay at my bank statement. Sometimes I hate being self-employed ... I hated working in boring office jobs, but I REALLY miss the monthly salary!

Anyone else avoiding opening bills at the moment??

    Hello All
Well I come over to MSE for some rest and websurfing after spending Thursday to Monday lunchtime locked in a room with a Computer while I finally wrote my Terms and Conditions http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1607781 and got all informed and knowledgeable about business insurance http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1602457
Created, wrote a ton of Content for, uploaded and SEO'd 4 websites ;-) ;-) ;-), though my girlfriend was not impressed that I was still downstairs trying to get Google Analytics to work at gone 2am Sunday morning !!
So this afternoon I plan to rest and laze around, eat chocolate and enjoy the fact that most other people are still sat at the desk in the office till 5pm while I sit on the sofa and relax ;-)
Then tomorrow off to get Leaflets printed for a hopeful launch of the Business on 16th April !!!! Excited !!! You bet !!! (and of course nervous as hell ) In fact as there seems to be lots of clever people here, if anyone fancies checking my leaflet before it heads to the printers send me a Private Message and I shall send you one to look at. ( I promise it has less !!! in it than this message)
Hope you all had a good weekend and saw more of the outside world than I did.
    Cheers
    Andy ;-)

    Phew hectic morning for me

This agency who says they have stuff for me to translate virtually every day sent me a 5 page document that they wanted translated yesterday!! So i said it would take me about 3 hrs (took 3 3/4 hr in the end as the orginal was pdf and i had to sort all the formating in word grrr) and they charge me 10 dollars for every bank transfer they send me so ill have to invoice in batches. but if i get docs like that every day thats about 200 quid a week which is a good start :)

Thanks for the fairy dust Star:D

I am absolutely livid - I went to said shop today and waited around from 11.30 til 3.30 to be seen:mad: When I was eventually granted entry into the shop (still with a wedding dress rep there), she showed no interest in me whatsoever - I could have been speaking Urdu, the light was on but no-one was home. I took along some of the bridal stuff that I need to sell and got told "no one buys separates" at which point I could see the sales rep shaking his head (mind he was having a whale of a time because he was selling her loads of stuff and she didnt really have a clue:rolleyes:). She wasnt interested in wedding planning or anything. What a complete waste and I missed lunch:mad: I am wondering if I have mug tattooed on my forehead? Well, I have learnt something today - not to hang around as time is money.

Thanks Purple. I have plans and will be taking a stand at a wedding fair in September.

The jewellery sounds exciting Purple, tourists always seem to spend money especially yanks:D

Hope your veg patch is doing ok? My window boxes are ok and my seeds are growing slowly, I hope to be self sufficient in salad leaves:rotfl:

Trade fairs are great for networking! have you had a stall at one before? we're off to one in Paris in October so can't wait for that.

Computer said no to my first try at this post. Pah! ;)

Glad to hear that you are all busy. :T

Wordsmith - Sorry to hear about your parents. That must be upsetting, but I hope that they will soon be settled into their new surroundings and making new friends.

Horace - I can understand that you must be  at the time you wasted, but in some ways, better now than after entering into a business relationship. At least you know not to spend more time with them. The wibblies at this stage are perfectly understandable, but remember that you will soon be doing it your way. Good luck to you.

I have been having an outbreak of the tidies, sorting out my office nest with all my relevant books and folders, and doing the same with my computer. I am now a bit square eyed, but pleased to be getting there. I have also been doing more to prepare the house for sale (second string trade as a plasterer may be on the cards ;)) and contacting estate agents for details of any potential B&Bs.
  • What a day.. seem to be having a mare of a 2 weeks.
Wordsmith - everything is ok at home (for now) sorted it out and made up lets just hope it lasts.
Today i have taken a call from my collegue who has been sacked after a weeks work, arranged an appointment from an instulators direct for thurs, £400 pw basic, plus £5 for lead, and £2.50 from anyone u take out to train after a month for any leads they do. Working local plus 9-5 perfect really.
Sorted out my nationwide bankcharges letter, ready to post. Business account activation letter for dcard and signed app for buz cc, sent off contracts for current employment to make sure i have been paid. Vaccumed, cleaned both bathrooms, put washing on, sorted out ironing. called to alter my tax code after an error, checked to see whether my current company is insolvent they are not. ate a 99 off the ice cream man. changed my mtg date to last working day of the month. made the bed, sewed up some cushions where they had become a bit tatty. put dishes away and loaded the dishwasher. Had a shower and cleaned it. Made a list of meals we had in from the food we have got, and started off a shopping list of things were running out of. Writen a letter to halifax about unenforcable cca agreements as they have run out of time to post it.
All i have to do now is, sort out paperwork in the office, and tidy my wardrobe. Post off letters which i will do when i go for a walk later, do tea (having chicken supreme mmmm.) call mbna and avon about some incorrect charges occured. Sort though files on computer ready for tommorow when i load up the mortgage software onto my laptop. take out rubbish and empty cats poo tray. finish off ironing and brain storm for advertising to pass by the director of the company i am under for the brokerage.. ohhh and speak to my mum about whats happening tomorrow and i'll do the rest of the ironing about 30 items whilst cooking tea and watching soaps tonight.

a very productive day if you ask me. just hope i can get it all done, should do in about 2 hours if i crack on.

speak to you all in a bit.

wow cheeky monkey, thats an incredibly productive day, im tired just reading it.
well i have been less productive (my internet appears to be on the blink, i can access some sites, but hotmail and my email marketing site are a no no...?) but did do a night shift last night so am forgiving myself for sleeping a lot today.
my big news is... last night i HANDED IN MY NOTICE!! yeah!
they were really great and understanding about it and have offered me seasonal work on checkouts (this is fab as it means i will be able to just take up overtime shifts as and when i need them but wont have set hours). am very pleased, plus, 3rd of may... no more night shifts! yeah!

wordsmith, hope you are feeling a bit better. i had to help go through my nans things when she passed away and didnt want to get rid of anything- in fact most of it is currently stored in my room! i hope your parents are settling into their new home ok, im sure once they get to know people they will be happier, and atleast you can worry a little less :)

hope everyone is having a great week so far, i dont think ill have time to sleep tomorrow but needs must when one is soon to become self employed :D
