Evening all..I have been at work today and worked from 11am til 3pm. I felt like a right nit - the keyboard is different ot my laptop so I kept hitting the wrong keys and software has moved on too so I am using Windows 7 and the latest Microsoft Office software and everything seems to have moved:mad: I did do some work today because I have been getting to grips with Kashflow which is an accounting system so I have spent time inputting recurring invoices.

I shall be working on Tuesdays from 12-4 and Fridays from 10-2 - I must remember to take some lunch with me because I was nearly passing out with hunger when I left at 3pm today:(

I have been catching up on emails and now need to set up a LinkedIn group to promote this networking lunch that I have been asked to organise for the casino. This weekend, I will be mainly doing housework (need to dust as I can write my name in it now it is that thick:eek:) and working.

I have managed to get myself onto a free course on Thursday next week run by Yell where I will hear about branding - I get lunch too which is a huge bonus:D The man who started Gu will be talking and I am hoping he will be taking some chocolate puds with him (well, a girl can dream).

Hope you all have a fantabulous weekend.
  • I don't believe it, I have another cold! :( I think I must have been exposed to a lurgy while still rundown with the last one. Oh well, never mind.

I don't think I'll get to dance practice as I've feeling decidedly queezy, so I'll work on my next Geisha painting tomorrow. At my day job today I was doing the most boring job ever, which intailed loading lots of data onto speadsheets using macros which take forever to run. As a result I was sat around scribbling out a plan of my my painting while a waited :) I love it when I can do that. I think I'll post the resulting sketch on my blog latter.

Anyway, have a good weekend everyone :)

Amatheya..try taking zinc tablets, I started to come down with the sniffs the other day so have been taking a zinc tablet every day along with a vitamin C tablet and it seems to have knocked it on the head.

Haven't managed to do any dusting this weekend, I did do some washing which is now hanging up indoors because it was lashing down with rain earlier. Am supposed to be typing minutes from a committee meeting and creating some nomination forms too as these are needed for 22 March.

Need to make arrangements for someone to come and clean my oven - seeing as I discovered it is not self cleaning as I was lead to be believe:mad: I hate cleaning ovens because I hate fumes. Dusting has been put on hold too as I have too much on my plate.

Need to learn to use mailchimp as need to send a mass email promoting the casino business lunches and now my business breakfasts - ever feel you have bitten off more than you can chew? I am feeling that way at the mo..I know both events will be successful but I am just having a little stress about them. Why does everything have to come at once?

Feel as though I have lost the majority of today too because I didnt get out of bed until 11.20am which is majorly late for me:eek: Feel like eating chocolate but can't be bothered to shift myself to the corner shop to buy some. S'pose I ought to start preparing my sausage casserole although why I got sausages out of the freezer I don't know because I had toad in the hole for dinner last night so that means sausages two days on the trot..sigh.

Morning all! How are you all doing? Colds and procrastination aside, that is.

I was at short-fuse client's yesterday. Didn't see him much, and he didn't pay me. I didn't get the chance to ask about payment - he already said they are not much further forward with the sale, so there was no point, really. We'll see what happens next week, but I do feel that I am just being taken for a mug, which of course I am being.

    To do:
    Send emails for training client
    Update training client's course lists
    Post cheque from a client
    Send off invoice
    Check bank
    Accounts for shop
    Teaching 5-7 and 7-9
Ring mechanic to ask if he'll look at a car for me

    Have a good day, everyone.

Thanks for the suggestion Horace, I'll add zink to my daily vitimins... many more and I'll start rattling!

Hope todays better than yesterday Wordsmith.

I haven't got much further on my painting, the outline is ready but I just feel too rubbish to lay down paint (how patheric do I sound!!) I don't have anything planned for this weekend so I think I'll curl up in a duvet at my painting table and try to get most of the painting done... Maybe I'll start a new painting while a wait for it to dry and I've still got my card images to finish. Must get my bottom in gear, somebody kick me!

What sort of business are you thinking of starting as it will make a difference to the sort or isurance you will need (and whether you need it at all). The first thing you need to do is research, research, research, your chosen market and after that you need to register for tax and NI which you can do online on the inland revenue website. Depending on how much you think you'll be earning you may not need to pay NI but you will still have to register and keep them up to date and you will have to file tax returns which is easier than it sounds. I don't know about benifits but others here may be able to help you.

Right, I'm off to work on graphics for my website. I will get them done today even if I do have to stop every 30 seconds to sneez!!! (I've given my cold to everyone at work, they are so impressed :rotfl:)

Moonflower - I would think long and hard about becoming self employed, it isnt as easy as folks think it is. You will work harder than you have ever worked in your life and initially for a lot less money or even no money. You would need to register your self employment with the HMRC so they can give you a tax reference number, you register with them for Class 2 NI and you can apply for an exemption if you are on low income, if your income is low you can also apply for working tax credits. I have no kids and get £51.28 a week, I get some housing benefit and council tax benefit, I have insurances to pay too and that money comes out of my business account - I keep personal money and business money separate so my WTC goes into my personal account because I use that for my living expenses.

I have been on low income for a while now and have had to take on a part time job to supplement my income - I am trying to save up to buy a new and much needed computer and some new software. I have my other projects which don't go live until April but in the meantime I am full on with the promotion side of things.

I made a start on the minutes today and then I went to have a facial (one of my free ones from last year) and a spot of waxing. Have booked in again for 23 March and I will have another facial (I will then have one left) and a full body massage (this has cost me 80 points from my time to spa card)..so it means I won't be spending any money:j

I need to finish the minutes and do the nomination forms..tomorrow I shall be out for most of the day on this course..but it is free and I might learn something. I didnt switch the computer on at all yesterday..the flippin students upstairs kept me awake until 3am yesterday morning which is no fun when you have to get up at 6am..I had to leave the flat at 7am to get to Studley for a networking meeting - I am supposed to be bright eyed and bushy tailed to invigorate the group (I am group leader) but I could barely stay awake - comments were made and I was told that I am not the same person who took up the post in August..so I said that it was down to the students keeping me awake..I might jack the whole thing in and stick with my own networking events.

I am going out with the meetup group that I went walking with the other day..we are having a day out in Worcester, Sunday I am off to see my parents as it is Dad's birthday, Mum's is on Monday and I am dreading going. I must be the most horrible daughter because I stay away..I do not get on with my mother who becomes more intolerant by the day and I am sick of being looked at as though I am huge fat turd on her nice cream carpet:mad: I cannot stand to see my dad looking so ill either and I am repeatedly told not to visit by my mother especially if I have the sniffs so it has become easier to stay away altogether. I rarely visit..I last visited them in November.

Hope you get better Amantheya, Wordsmith..you need to stop being a mug, get the money that you are owed.

    Have a good day tomorrow.

Morning, all. How are you feeling Amathaya? Horace, how's the new job going?

I need to get my finger out today. There's a fair bit on my to-do list - crucially, some left over from the beginning of the week.

    To do:
    [STRIKE]Usual checking of various emails
    Send emails for training client
Send training flyer to email list
Send training flyer to postal list
Get client's brochures ready for posting out[/STRIKE]
    Send off PO commission form
    [STRIKE]Do shop's newspaper returns
    Post cheque to bank[/STRIKE]
Send invoice for work I've already been paid for
    [STRIKE]Hand out pensions and benefits[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Finish shop's VAT return (will probably spill over to tomorrow)[/STRIKE]
There are just not enough hours in the day! Have a good one.
