Thanks TCM for clarifying that - sounds like a good scheme, but in practice clearly has some major flaws. When I first started out I was tempted by all these schemes that are supposed to help, but soon decided not to bother. My late Grandad, at the time, told me that if they were so good at running a business why did they work in these places? And I think he did have a point..... Same goes for the every annoying 'Small Business Manager' at my bank really, she's forever asking me to go in for 'a chat' and I'm really not interested - their 'help' is usually an hour trying to sell me all kinds of difference insurances!

One thing that I need to do is raise an invoice and send a copy to Business Venture at the Chamber of Commerce and they will give me £100. Now who can I invoice? My ex boyfriend suggested that I send him a bill for £25 for advice given and then use a copy of it to claim my £100:rotfl:

Well it's been a little while since I've been on here - and I've had some very serious thinking to do.. Earlier this year I had a 'near-death' experience and I am still in recovery ... but I have to say it made me put a very different perspective on life..

Since the age of 23 I've always wanted to be self-employed with my own business and for many years have tinkered in the network marketing industry as a hobby - but with working full time and trying to build a business I've really struggled - (except for 2 of the years which were fantastic)

However.. over the last few weeks I have made a life changing decision.. which on the one hand I'm so so excited about and on the other I'm so scared... I have handed in my notice, resigned from my job and will be starting my own ltd company from 01st August 09..

The business will take 2 strands - the first will be working on Interim Contracts - supporting business' in the HR arena - the second strand will be developing a natural health store and network..(to support my salary when there's no interim work available)

Some of my websites are already in design (which I'm doing myself) - but I'm wondering if anyone can recommend someone /company who will be able to design a new logo / brand for me to support my interim contracts?

All help much appreciated...

Congratulations Itsnowtime on the new venture. Sure it is scary when you start out, I have days when I think if I have done the right thing but then its only a passing thought as there is no way on this earth that I would go back to working for someone 9-5.

I don't know about a logo - mine was originally lifted from Vistaprint and Printing.com re-drew it for me. Thanks for your kind words about my website - when I have time I shall do the key words but time is too short this week.

Best dash I have to make the bed and cook my tea..the office is kind of tidy in preparation for the new shelving unit - cheap galvanised metal ones from Focus:D

Thanks Horace - Yep I'm a little scared but I've got 2.5 weeks to get myself ready for the launch!!

It will be absolutely fantastic - I'm so looking forward to it and I'm sure I'll be keeping in touch with everyone a lot more often now..

Woo hoo - I just had to share, I received a text just now asking me to send a brochure and price list to someone - trouble is I don't have a brochure I have a webpage and my prices are listed there and can be subject to negotiation so instead of speaking to her I sent a text referring her to the website, its nearly 10pm and its me time now not work time. Maybe I should have phoned her? Anyway I can phone her tomorrow.

I called and got no response - hey ho, my phone is staying off after today because I am in hospital tomorrow and won't be in a business-frame of mind.

Put the flags out - that last assignment that I have been procrastinating over for months has been sent off and I included some pretty pictures in there too to pad it out:D My diploma will be on its way soon and then I need to think about the next course - Event Planning:cool:

congrats on finishing your final assignment H!! and how exciting that someone got in touch! fingers crossed they become a client! Hope your hospital stay goes well too.

Lots happening here but won't bore you with the details. potential trip to America for meetings which is super exciting.
