Welcome, Jag Babe! And good luck with being debt-free by the end of the year.

    Welcome JagBabe.

Wordsmith - did you see further back that I posted something about a qhost writing job or at least a job for a person who can write business books, I thought of you when I posted it. Glad to hear things are ticking along.

I dont always get the work life balance right but I do stop at lunchtime to watch Neighbours and Home&Away (I have only been watching it since a hand was washed up on the beach and I was hoping that the shark would eat the residents of summer bay:rotfl:) - these are programmes where I dont have to think and I can switch off completely. Not much work done today, I got the bus to the city centre as I needed to get a box of biscuits and some posh cakes - I would have had a bite to eat in Starbucks but silly me had left my luncheon vouchers at home so I came home instead. Yet another mandate has been sent to the chamber of commerce so that they can send it to the bank - if they don't relinquish their hold on my bank account I will sue the pants off them:mad: Its a case of no more nice Horace, its rapidly becoming nasty Horace time and that's not nice for them.

I am now missing that course now that the final assignment has been sent off - waiting to be marked now as the tutor has had a month's holiday:rolleyes: so I am thinking of doing another one - again to get a nice logo and this time in event planning - I already know how to plan events but feel that this little logo will be of help (and maybe I can charge more).

Best crack on - its nearly lunchtime and I have a huge amount to do before 6pm.

Hi everyone - i've missed my band of merry chums whilst I've been on hols - went to Majorca and did NOTHING! It was pure bliss and now I have come back to reality and back to self employment, bills, phone calls and a shop of a lot less stock as my wee angel has been a busy bee whilst I've been away!!

Horace - glad to hear you're over your op and are feeling well again. I have decided that any Christmas shopping I do I am going to fly over to Birmingham to do it - what a fantastic city! We did not get to Cadbury world as the OH was a bit sick from the flight so we left the cases at the airport and got the train into town - I was mega impressed and it makes Belfast look tin-pot in comparisson, although Belfast has come on in leaps and bounds in recent years.

Its great catching up what everyone has been up to and I'm glad things have been going really well for everyone. Its very exciting!

Odd George and Strange Harold did not miss me though. Rosie has left home and shacked up with a tabby up the road!

    Hi Zoe

Firstly welcome to the board.. in terms of Arise I don't know too much about them but I know there is a thread on the 'up your income' board - it 'sounds' like they are looking for you to set up a Ltd Company?? but I'm not a 100% sure..

When working on a contract, setting up a ltd company seems to be standard practice. However.. pop over to the other thread and I'm sure lots of people on there will be able to help..

I am glad that you had a fab time in Birmingham despite missing Cadbury World - I hope OH is feeling a little less queasy. Glad to hear that you had a lovely holiday too - I am jealous as I haven't been away this summer. As soon as I am able to drive I shall have to catch up with appointments and visits - hopefully for free lunches:rotfl:

Its been kind of strange - I have ended up mentoring a wedding planner in Essex, the poor girl doesnt have a clue and didnt understand that you don't pay the first figure asked for for advertising. She has just spent £800 on a teeny advert to go in a magazine for a year:eek: She also thought that she had to pass all her discounts onto her clients - so me being me asked why she was giving away all her profits? If I get discounts then some may be passed on but certainly not all - its not being mean, its just business.

The girl I am meeting next week contacted me today to ask about google ads and how I have got my website onto google - I had to say that I hadnt advertised or even paid google anything, I had just listed my website on facebook as well as having a few reciprocal links

I got a fair bit done today and managed to type up and send off two letters, I chased up the FSB as they have given me a sex change and according to them I am a Mr:eek: so now they are sending me a new certificate as well as a new member pack with card so my correct details are on there.

Am still waiting for my mark for my final assignment and am now toying with the idea of the Events courst which I hope to claim back from the business as it is over £500:eek: Maybe at the end of all this I should apply to become a teacher and teach wedding planning etc:D

Sorry to hear that Rosie has moved in with the ginger tom up the road though:rolleyes:

H - I found the same thing with a young girl who is a customer here but runs her own business - she was passing all of her discounts on and didn't see that yes, she could pass a certain amount on but it was a huge chunk out of her profit if she passed it all on. We live and learn.

Being self employed teaches us how to be more savvy and thats why I love this thread as it is great for picking up tips and keeping motivated. There are down sides to self employment too but with this thread, you're not on your own struggling anymore!

The OH is as grumpy as sin today as his DS announced that he would not be coming to see him today because he wanted to play with his friend (we have had him for 3 weeks when we normally only have him for 2 days a week so I do not think we have done too badly!) OH did not see it like that so I am keeping a low profile! Trying to give myself kick up backside to do accounts but am lacking motivation!

Hello, everyone. Am working in my office today so just popping in to see how you all are. Can't hang around, though, as I have a job to finish for this afternoon's post (which should have been finished for yesterday afternoon's post).

    Hi everyone

I am not long back from the hospital - I went yesterday to clinic and am progressing well and I managed to ditch one of the eye drops:j and I need to go back in 3 weeks. Today's trip was to have my eyes tested as they are bad despite having them done in January and I have waited since April for this appointment:rolleyes: My eyes have changed and with the new prescription I will now be able to read the third line up from the bottom of the chart but I am miffed that I cannot read all the letters on the second line from the bottom and none from the bottom one:rolleyes:

I had a letter from my solicitor concerning some monies which have come through and I asked that they be paid by BACS but now I am going to collect said cheque because there is no way that I will pay a fee for the BACs transfer and an admin fee of £15.00 plus VAT:eek: I will take the cheaper option and go and collect it - I shall combine it with a meeting in Birmingham and the bus ticket will cost me £3.30 but I can hop on and off buses all day thus it works out cheaper:rolleyes:

Oh and I had my assignment marked - my final assignment (no. 11 on transport) landed me an A grade so now I can now get my diploma but I won't be getting a Diploma with Merit because I have had two C marks:mad:

Now I can have some letters after my name:cool: I will be able to add Dip.WP (Inst.WP) now:D:j

I also love this thread because sometimes this is the only contact I have with the outside world and at least I am know I am not alone and can come here pick up tips and feel less isolated and more motivated.

Well folks - you will have to give me the occasional kick up the backside as I have booked and paid for a new home learning course for yet another logo for my website and even more letters after my name - this time in Event Management. I can already organise events but having that little logo makes me look all the more professional:D Part of the course involves a section on wedding planning so I will re-jig some of my wedding assignments and re-submit them thus saving time:cool:

Hope you all have a good weekend.
