You never know - sometimes people don't check their email inbox regularly so it may come through in a couple of days (fingers crossed) - Did they leave a phone number at all - if so you could give them a call..

It's a fab feeling getting that first order - I've run a couple of sites in the past and I'm just creating all my new sites now - resigned from my job which I left last Friday and just going to spend the next couple of weeks sorting everything before I do an official launch on 01st August - I'm so excited and chilled!! for the first time in a long time...

    More orders here we come!!

You guys are lucky - I am still waiting for my first client, hopefully the wedding fair in September will bring some in and I have a cunning plan too. I noticed that the events company that appeared on dragons den also offer a wedding planning service so I thought about contacting them to see if I could pick up any work:D

Congrats on the (hopeful) order mm!

We did put out our new leaflets last week and have been busy with people now thankfully.

Well I am back at work today - I feel even more better than yesterday:cool:

This morning I have spoken to a fellow wedding planner (and student on the same course) who set up her business this week. We are meeting up on 4 August - we are pooling our resources and she covers a different area to me although she is still based in the Midlands. I have also rebooked my appointment with the AV chap - the one who cancelled at the last minute I am meeting him on 5 August:cool:

Things are moving onwards and upwards.

    Hope everyone is ok today.

Hello, everyone. I'm back - but only briefly as I have masses to do - have taken on a proofreading job even though every hour for the next couple of weeks is accounted for. Will just have to find some more hours from somewhere. Um, where???
Btw, I googled Wordsmith's signature and it is a few lines from a hymn. Now I'm not religious but I did find the whole hymn quite beautiful and the next 2 lines of the hymn after the lines that Wordsmith quoted are worth quoting too... here's the whole hymn, I couldn't find out who wrote it...

Yes, the lines are from this hymn. I don't know the music to it so I read it as a poem (which is just as well as I can't sing in tune even in my head). I love it. It has got me through some very dark times. Makes me teary, but hopeful too, every time I read it. I'm glad you liked it enough to Google it.

I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.

over the last few weeks I have made a life changing decision.. which on the one hand I'm so so excited about and on the other I'm so scared... I have handed in my notice, resigned from my job and will be starting my own ltd company from 01st August 09

Good luck, itsnowtime. Well done for taking the plunge. It's so exciting starting something new.

Thanks Wordsmith I've really enjoyed my first week of getting everything sorted. I just have to learn to not be at my computer screen 24-7.

I'm sure I'll learn overtime that i need to take a break and close the office door once work has finished!

Hope you find the time for proof-reading I'm sure you will!

    Have a good day everyone!

I work from home as a freelance journalist and copywriter. I started freelancing at the start of this year and so far it is going steady. although not really anything to shout about yet. I live with my two cats and DS.
I am aiming to be debt free by the time I am 30 (May 2010)

Yes, it is something that all self-employed people have to learn. Take that from someone who has been freelancing since 1986 and still hasn't learnt. :o Let me know what the secret is when you find it - I'm afraid I won't be the one to impart the wisdom. It's very tempting to keep at it - and if you are working from home it is very difficult (for me, anyway - although I meet much more sensible people who do manage to get the balance right). Seriously, though - you do work much more efficiently if you manage to get breaks away. And do something completely different so you aren't even thinking of work. I have a dog, and having to walk her every day is very good for getting me out - although I tend to use it as work-thinking time. Still, I am out in the fresh air (some days rather fresher than others!, and wetter, and colder). My part-time completely-different job that I have only relatively recently been doing is also great (and even better that I am still earning at the same time!).
