HMRC says you can claim mileage @ 40p per mile for the first 10k miles, then 25p per mile. This is to cover petrol, insurance, wear and tear on the car etc.

I am not sure what the daily food allowance is for self-employed people - I didnt know there was one:confused:

Darth vader/Mabel 123-reg is where I bought my domain but printing.com use 123-reg for webhosting. My old site is lilac with a bride on the header and flash pictures my new site is a lot cleaner with no flash images. I moved my domain across to MRS but they released it back to 123-reg and Printing.com but it is still registered in my name (oh its all so confusing and frustrating), I need folks to hold my hand really and now Printing.com are not doing that so at the end of these 12 months they too will be knocked on the head and I shall go somewhere else - I have a friend who designs websites and hosts them but at the moment his fee is too extortionate for poor old me.

I don't feel much like work today and yesterday was a waste because I was out for most of the day - I have a new role in life - a pincushion:eek: I was made to feel like one yesterday:rolleyes:

Nice to see you back wordsmith.:D

The pincushion test is never a good one! Tell me this Horace, being a Midlands lass - how far is it from Birmingham airport to Cadbury World? Have 8 hours to kill in the airport next Tuesday
  • With web design and many other things, I think it can sometimes be really hard to decide whether to 'outsource' it or try and do-it-yourself. I'm a bit of a control freak and try to do everything - but that means I tend to go off at a tangent to learn something new and useful, when actually, in the long run, it would probably have been more profitable to pay an expert to do that while I concentrate on the things I'm an expert at. Oh well, I love learning new things, so it's okay. :)

    Hello Everyone :hello:

Havnt been on this thread for yonks ! Life just got in the way. Have been waiting since Dec to find out if we will still be working for our client in Aug which we are :j, however its one run less than we thought so will be working hard each month just to make ends meet. Was really only going through the motions whilst this was happening but now we know there is no exuse.

Currently half way though a horrible filling job & loads more to do, however I have an incentive to get the paperwork upstraight as the kids are off from next friday  so am hoping all filing is done by then & the office is decluttered.

Still have some tax bill left to pay but hopefully am improving our cashflow week by week. Spoke to one of our fuel suppliers the other day & was told that most transport company's are not being touched with a barge pole by banks, finance companies, etc at the moment as we have a very bad reputation of going broke - so just surviving is good enough for me at present.

Some days absolutely hate being s/e - some days love it.

Oh well on with the filing - have a very productive day. (am doing some filing then treating myself with some surf time :rotfl:)

Also have had a decal made up for the back windscreen of my car with my new logo in silver-cost £30 fitted which wasn't too bad

Thanks for the tip about my site Mabel...I have had a hellish time - no power since yesterday afternoon - it seems there was a wiring fault and it has now been fixed but I am really cheesed off at losing time and half a freezer full of food:mad:

TCM - I think it is about 30 miles from the airport to Cadbury World, however, get yourself over to Birmingham International Station on the little mono rail thingy (this is free) get a rail ticket to Bournville Station - you will have to change at New Street Station to get the train to Bournville and Cadbury World is a short walk from there. A return ticket will cost you about £3 - I know that if I wanted to get a train from Longbridge to Birmingham International that costs me £4.90 return and Bournville is the third stop towards birmingham from me (if that makes any sense).

Mabel - when you look at my site what do you see? Do you see a header with my business name and a picture of a bride or do you see my business name in script with a blue and purple streamer with matching confetti? If its the first example then that isnt entirely right as that is part of the old site. If you could let me know that would be fab so that I can let my designers know.

I must get on with the text for the additional information bit and see if I can remember my password to update my blog too:rolleyes:

Hi H, I see the streamers and confetti when I visit your site. Looks nice. Works been good. Got some big new clients which are a bit scary but it's good to say we work with them. Shops been busy too although most don't buy anything. Glad we don't depend on shop sales alone!

    Hope everyone's well
