Simply sales talk to gain more, unlock the iPhone and put whatever sim you wish in it,i only switched to o2 two month's ago, prior to that i was a vodafone customer for the past 15 years but there current tarrifs could not match the simplicity o2 tarrifs.

Thanks Wrack. Do you pay when you use your iphone? O2 offer me a choice between unlimited free Blackberry use, or unlimited free WAP use. Would one of these allow me to use an iphone for free? If so, which one?
If one of them works, I'll buy an iphone second-hand. I'm reluctant to change my tariff as I'm on simplicity O2 20 for which I pay 20 quid/month and get 600mins and 500 texts. (I've been with them for years and battered down my deal, and now I'm on a rolling 1 month contract). Cheers for all this advice, by the way..
  • I have had the HTC touch for 3 months now because I'm with Orange. As a good MSE I negotiated with retentions and got a 12 month deal at a good price.

Yes - I'd rather have the Iphone because it is infinitely cooler than any of the other smart phones.

But after everything, I have to say that the HTC isn't bad as a substitute, and is definitely better value for money through retentions than an Iphone.

I opted for the Xperia x1 smartphone with 02 but after 4 months of ownership I still find installing apps on it difficult whereas I put stuff on my ipod touch with such ease. I wish I had taken a iphone instead.

Do you mean Internet Explorer Mobile?

Yes. Microsoft referred to it as "IE 6 on 6". The current version is based upon IE 4, which was released 12 years ago.

If Microsoft want to survive in the mobile market, they really have to pull something special out of the hat with Windows Mobile 7.

Lame incremental updates every 18 months (which may or may not make it to your model of phone) aren't going to cut it any more. Whether they'll innovate or stagnate remains to be seen.

I don't see how anyone who owns a smartphone could regard the iPhone as being anything less than a good thing. Apple's aggressive update schedule will hopefully stop other smartphone manufacturers from being so complacent, which will means everyone's devices will get better.

Im not sure what you mean by " do i pay" i have a contract sim on the simplicity plan 1 month contract,it costs me £14.69 per month,i receive 600 texts,300 free minutes to any mobile network or landline, and free o2 to o2 calls,i also qualify for o2 treats which gives me the choice of further free minutes or texts,i can also access the web on the iphone if i wish that will not cost any more than £1 for a 24hr period, you can add the web bolt on which i think is around £7 per month but i really only access the web on the iphone through wifi to either watch bbc iplayer or tune in to their radio,as i said,if you buy a 2nd hand iphone and have it unlocked either by a shop or do the software unlock(google)your sim will work in the iphone.if im reading what you say correctly, your sim has free unlimited wap access then it will work fine with the iphone or any phone for that matter.Hope that's helped.

I recall watching a gadget show on tv around christmas, there were four phones up for the test,HTC,Blackberry,Iphone and i think it was Nokia 96 or 97, Blackberry was 1st out the door due to finicky keyboard no wifi etc, next up was the nokia i cant recall what its downsides were but it lost :D , the iphone came 2nd only because the battery lasted an extra half hour on the HTC ,that was the only downfall.but those judgements were made on a stock iphone and not using third party applications;)

I'm happy with my N85 played with both the iphone and N85 in the shop and prefered N85. Its my personal opinion that nokia make better phones and apple do better gimmicks and marketing.

    Interesting read

I'm not interested in a touch screen phone atm, however might be in the future. Apple could do themselves a favour with a price drop that would bag them a lot more customers.

Watch out for Nokia opensourcing the symbian OS and also andriod, they are the real competitors to anything the iphone can do. Andriod needs a decent handset and nokia need to open up their OS, then apple will have a lot to worry about.

What about the iPhone do you consider a "gimmick"?

The first iphone was a gimmick, compared to other phones it didn't do much, which could be said of the current one, the update will help.

Dont get me wrong it changed the phone market but it sold so well on the back of being the first touch screen phone, which is a gimmick however good it is, not a phones features.
