Barclays are a joke

            Don't close transfer.
Transferring can take months to get processed especially at Barclays.. As I have not invested this years 3600 and I know I won't invest anymore than my 5K balance currently in the ISA, it is probably more advantageous for me to close rather than transfer, this set of circumstances is quite rare, for most people transferring is the only option, but not for me at this time.
It will be quicker for me to close on Mon 23rd March and open a new one this week, then pay in the remaining 1400 after 10 days as part of my 09/10 tax year allowance.
The suggestion of going with the fixed but allowing withdrawals such as Halifax, is a good one, and I'll give it some thought.0

If you have considered it and have come to the right decision for you then good luck.0

I have found out something which happened in 1999. Barclays tried to charge everyone £1 for using their cash machines. Talk about rip off. At least the Nationwide stood up for customers and threatened to sue them.
BTW Barclays staff seem to have different views on post dated cheques on the Golden ISA feedback thread. I wish they would come and defend the great bank on this thread.0

I agree that Barclays are a total joke!
i've been trying to transfer an old ISA out of Barclays to another provider. The new provider has sent them the request paperwork twice, 4 months ago & 2 months ago, but Barclays just won't get their butts into gear & transfer the isa/funds.
Not sure if they're just trying to hold onto my money as long as possible, or they are just too useless to be able to do the admin correctly.0

I suspect it is the latter judging by my local branch. HSBC have no problems. Complain to the Ombudsman.0

Why would any of us be interested in talking in a thread such as this?
You're not interested in having any sort of discussion, merely slinging insults around at a business. Had your thread been entitled "Could any Barclays staff help me understand this?" then I might have been interested. What would William Shatner do?0

Well why bother posting at all?
" merely slinging insults " I see as reporting factual matters relating to Barclays, especially the £1 ATM charge.

It is not insulting to point out that Barclays don't have a consistant policy and that they offer a bad level of service. I suspect that Barclays staff don't want people to challenge the great British unethical bank.
Also Inactive this comes from a man who expects people to know how online banking works when everything is not clearly laid out.
I also see BarclaysManager has not responded to any of the customer complaints about things like inconsistant service and an ISA been held back from a new provider.
Maybe the brain washing works at Barclays more than any other UK bank.0

Here some of the comments on here - I swear they worked for the bank in question, ooooh thats slander that is, balrclays wouldn't want you as a customer.

Talking of Barclays I have a story to tell
I know a young single mother who has here benifits paid into Barclays. Anyhow she went to a ATM and withdrew her weekly benfits, only the machine mad a charge of £1. Little did she know that the £1 had taken here overdrawn by 80p. Barclays, that company who doesn't appear to like critisim charged her £30 for going overdrawn, even though it was only a basic cashcard account.
I told her it was criminal what Barclays had just done and that she should phone them and ask, demand the £30 be returned, Barclays did return the money and closed her account.
Scum bags, when you realize these actions are taken at a personal level.0
