    Debt-free and Proud!
typing one handed cos eating tea, anywho-

ivas are tricky and not many people qualify for them. the debt management companies that you need to consider are the free ones, payplan or cccs, they have a debt remedy on their website where you input your figures and it tells you the best way to deal with it. think once you are in one you aren't allowed to take out more credit, so no £50K.

if they are doing a dmp most people would start making £1 token payments to creditors instead of full payments. why don't you fill out your soa and see where you stand on just your wage alone, with jsa for hubby. that might be helpful at this juncture.

is there a reason why your oh needs to be a director again? £50K is a huge amount of extra debt to take out at this time.

again, sorry if you know all this already. thats what i thought you were asking for, but perhaps i misinterpreted your question?

    Hello,

    We shall overcome etc etc.

Tomorrow have a look at this link http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/debt_advice.php#4

And at (scarey bit coming but don't shut your eyes) the bankrupcy thread because they have a sticky on there full to busting on phone numbers, fact sheets, templates you can download etc etc.

There are a number of places to get help Debtline, CCCS and CAB. Some you may have to make an appointment for but lots of stuff available via the web. Here to help you through all of it. You can post questions up there as well because there seems to be lots of ways to skin this particular cat.

But tonight sleep and then you'll be fresh to tackle this tomoz. I'll PM you my details if you want a hand with anything or just to offload.

Keep your chin up...you're strong and capable and will come through this glitch!

This is a step by step guide produced by the CAB. It details exactly what the options are and what they mean.

Even if you also seek help, doing this will make sure you have all the info to hand and they can then act faster for you.

Mrsmcr, now is the time to look at these with OH. They will answer lots of your questions. Also please make an uurgent appointment to speak to the CAB. At this moment you need to keep your secured debt up to date so mortgage. Other priority debt is Council Tax and Utility Bills. The unsecured debt will probably have to go to token payments until you decide what to do. Don't touch the companies you see on TV. There are charities who can help for free. If you get someone like CAB on board you can tell creditors that you are working with them and that holds them back a little.

Start with this stuff and then we can help you work through things. Put ebay on hold, this will take lots of time and digging and will be worth far far more in the long term.

Always here for you, try to keep smiling x

Only go with free companies that are recommended here....

IVA may be a route but it is complicated - start with ringing debt charities payplan or cccs asap

My ex OH got an IVA, not sure exactly what it all meant but he paid as much as could for 5 years & whatever wasn't paid was written off. Think it doesn't affect your credit rating as much as bankruptcy but you defo can't get any credit of any kind (not even a debt card) whilst you're in it

I am with CCCS and can highly recommend them. Sounds like you need to have a word with them or CAB although to get the best out of it you need as much info from your DH as possible. Sounds like at the moment though that will be like getting blood out of a stone. Is there a journey you could both take somewhere along a long motorway or something so you are both in the car and he can't just storm off once you start asking for more info.

for me i am waiting for news following a meeting later re: OH work. hopefully it should be clearer from later on today. dont feel so sick - but feel bit like im in a fog and its not all real. from july OH will not have income.

Whilst I know that your OH is worried sick, is there ANY way he can devote some time to finding ANY work for July. Even if it is not what he is used to be doing. Also with such a massive cut in salary can you claim working tax credits?

sorry if this has already been thought off still catching up
