Glad you made it across and have your fresh start! For my part, now nearly 3 months down the line from our sell, the anxiety seemed to slowly disappear. I only realised last week that I no longer get that 'doomed' feeling in my stomach when I wake up and I've no idea when it stopped but it has. :)

About to move out of my parents and into our new home on Saturday so my new start will properly begin then.

Oh you are a silly sausage. I mean really. You have been under stress for years, running pretty much on adrenaline and coffee. Now one sort of stress has gone. You are debt free. BUT you have to unpack a house, adjust to living with OH full time, help the kids adjust. Learn a language, start to budget in a new country etc etc etc. So you are still stressed, just a different kind of stress. It doesn't surprise me that you feel ill still.

    Be kind to yourself

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Chev is right. But add to that that you are in mourning for your old home, etc, etc. I imagine that you are quite a driven person and feel that you have to get everything sorted out straight away. Give yourself a week off, or at least 2-3 days. Relax, enjoy the sunshine, etc. See a bit of the new country you are in. Then roll your sleeves up and get on with it, but have a bit of a relax first.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

oh chev and GDB... of course you are both absolutely right.

and yes i am a sausage.

we are off on a sunshine holiday on sat, its very odd all living together again
i would like everything sorted like yesterday... but in this country nobody does anything fast! yesterday i walked [yes - no car yet] to the bank and it was closed... they are closed on mondays! odd. infact most things seem to be closed most of the time! there's no 24/7 here.

    hello!
im still alive.. adjusting to life on the other side... must say though that the stress does not automatically go away.. its just replaced with different stress and anxiety!

I have noticed that one too :).........but the move has probably really thrown you but you've been so busy you haven't noticed.

Plus missing friends, neighbours, setting into a new routine, making sure famille is all OK and so on/

Apparently it takes a month to change a habit/lifestyle......but I would say 3 months. Also, all living together again is hard as you kind of get used to living as a more solo adult when not dealing with kids stuff.....then you go back to doing/considering things as a couple again
    .
Took me until Xmas to settling into living back home again...so 6 months. You'll get there.
Loving the sig...did you pay off Cyrpus too? And renting where you are now for the time being?

    hi fc123

we have rented for a year and then will be saving hard to buy something lovely :)
cyprus is all up to date and have only a small mortgage left on it with an annual income too - so all good i think.

i do miss my old house where i had everything just where i wanted it... its not the same in a rented house :(

I know......when we relocated we lived in rented for 5 years and moved 3 times. I hated the inspections every 3 months...had to hide the cat (though only in the last one )and so on.

Now we are living back home it's so nice not to have to worry about marking /breaking anything and no inspections by a 20-something with a clipboard. Changing decor and so on didn't bother me too much though.....was nice not to have the hassle.

I am guessing that OH's job is all great too as you are planning to stay long term.
  • Hi, Mrs C. Have just spent 3 days reading your story. I feel as if I've watched the Bourne Trilogy! The ups, the downs, the excitement, the despair .... (Not a lot of shooting, though!)

Half way reading it your signature changed and I realised the story had a happy ending, but couldn't stop reading till I got to the end.

You are amazing!!! Hope you all settle in to family life in Switzerland and live happy ever after. Look forward to reading all about it.

i think we had a lucky escape.. we now have different stresses... but at least the money one has gone... and really we learnt a life changing lesson. who knows how it might have turned out :(

i will be starting a brand new diary in a few weeks trying to come to terms with the continuing changes in our lives.
strange though how my mind is now conditioned to buy wisely.... OH said i dont need to buy discount meat at super market anymore :) im still buying discount basics ... after all sugar is sugar and apple juice is apple juice!!! perhaps i have learnt something after all !
