  • Hi

I'm glad your DS is back safely and that he had a good time, did the time go quickly for you in the end?

I know what you mean about money, things are slow here although have sold a couple of things, one has been paid for the other hasn't and I'm going away tomorrow lunch time so hope they pay before I go otherwise I'll have to take it with me and await payment and then post it from my parents.

I have got some stuff on my Personal account which I've done to finish when I come back so hopefully will sell some stuff, have 3 bids on 3 items so far so not too bad. I will be turning my holiday settings on in the morning so people can't see my items, just hope that anyone watching them doesn't buy them as apparently if someone is watching an item they can still buy it although anyone new looking won't see them.

Unfortunately it wasn't me who won the £56 million Euro lottery, what a shame, maybe next time!!!

hi mrsc - good luck with the bank - have you taken some advice before you go?
    Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
    1) MFW Nov 21 £202K now £172.5K Equity 36.11%
    2) £1.6K Net savings after CCs 14/8/25
    3) Mortgage neutral by 06/30 (AVC £25.6K + Lump Sums DB £4.6K + (25% of SIPP 1.2K) = 31.4/£127.5K target 24.6% 1/9/25
(If took bigger lump sum = 53.3K or 41.8%)
    4) FI Age 60 income target £17.1/30K 57% (if mortgage and debts repaid - need more otherwise)
(If bigger lump sum £15.8/30K 52.67%)
    5) SIPP £4.8K updated 29/7/25
  • Nothing like a big tank of diesel to show how much a guy cares about you.

Hope the bank appt goes ok. Just remember just cos s/he is a bank manager doesn't mean s/he has the finances of a saint. S/he could have a debt pit too.

Smile a lot, remind yourself that you are not the only person in the UK to be struggling at the mo. You should check out my bank account! Doesn't read like the fairy tale it should.

Oh - I suspended my contact lenses too. Saving me £15 a month. Its progress!

i am gonna tell the bank straight! after all our mortgage is with them .. surely its in their interests to help us out? or am i being naive?

  • I have suspended them for three months and then I can review it or suspend them for longer. I have built up a back log for the last few months anyways so its not like I am going to run out, I hardly wear them at the mo.

Suspend them, see how you go?!

You have nothing to lose by asking the bank to help you out! Its in their interest to do so, just don't go ballistic, you need them to be on your side and alienating them won't help. Treat the meeting like a business one.

just to be clear... um when i say im gonna tell them straight... i mean with a smile and an open frank discussion about where we are and what we are trying to achieve... asking for their continued support and a teeny bit of help and understanding.... i dont want to just put head in the sand ... am i wrong to go see them?
