    evening all
sorry i have deserted u of late.. :-( my bad!

Not bad just doing real life stuff like the rest of us.

its just mad as a bag of badgers at moment. so busy on all fronts - fighting the good fight. well this is the last month of no mortgage payment.. hmm from next month we pay.. am i ready for this... um nope! we are just squeeeeeking through to the end of the month.. keeping a low profile.. lower than a snakes belly!

If you are only just squeaking by at the moment, and THEN next month you need to find £1500 extra for the mortgage or whatever it is, that is why you need to do a PROPER DMP. That way you prioritise your mortgage first, then other things you have to pay like council tax, utilities and food and then your other creditors get a share of what's left. The LAST thing you would want is to stuff up your mortgage and lose your home after ALL your hard work.

YOU HAVE TRIED YOUR VERY BEST, IT IS NOT FAILING TO ASK FOR HELP

    xx

Sorry for shouting but you really need to sort something out before you start defaulting on it all. That is far more messy to deal with than going through a Debt Management charity like CCCS or Payplan.

And sorry if this is a bit harsh but well I think it needed to be said.

well done on getting more work in! Congrats!

Just remember priority debts are mortgage and council tax and to a degree your utilities. Don't let things get to the point where its out of control and you are defaulting everywhere - it would be much better to agree a plan to repay the debt!

    Why not though?

When I decided to approach the cards to freeze interest (and some took ages to sort too) I hadn't found this forum, had no idea that charities like CCCS existed.
The delay probably cost a few thousand on top in interest and charges.

I remember the big decision that OH and I made together was whether to muller our credit score and he was reticent about it. Kind of 'What if the car breaks down or what if there is an emergency'' and I remember saying that the priority was to get shot of the debt as quickly as poss without just chucking £££ at them esp the cards as they weren't going down due to interest.

We had a long talk about future borrowing (like OMG.. never again for any reason) and we already had a morgtage so weren't intending on buying another house or moving so......we (or rather I ) sent off the letters offerring existing monthly paymemnts but with interest frozen..and all played ball except MBNA (who did give in in the end and we F + F for 35% recently), B/Cd I had to take to the ombudsman but Lloyds were cool.

We had loans (finished in 2007) and I kept them going, no DMP as we could just about fit it all in.

If you are keeping the status quo just to protect your credit score (for 'just in case') then would be worth getting an Experien check as it may be too low now anyway to borrow further from mainstream lenders.

OH struggled with it but I talked him round and he accepted that if money was tight for petrol, he would have to drive slower or less frequently, likewise, eating with consideration whereas he would just chow down a whole wedge of brie and crackers or something without giving the cost a second thought.

In the end, it's earn more or spend less or both to get the budget balanced.

It feels good at the end though.;) I would have written in a diff tone 4 years ago
