Spreadsheet. Oh my, I can never get my head round them, I do it all in a book, like some dodgy Charles Dickens' character.

OH does all the technowonk round here. Can't have him doing the books, he might find out he's not been eating 'real redi-brek' for the last 14 years.

I have enough trouble with king size fitted sheets, married 25 years and I still can't fold the things without them looking like a jumble sale discard. I'm actually quite frightened of getting tangled up in one and being unable to fight my way out.

    Hi mrsmcr
I hadn't realised that you weren't on an official DMP for some reason I thought you were already.

Well I think if you have a stop on your credit, then that is the worlds way of saying hello now is the time to contact payplan or CCCS.

you can do the debt remedy on CCCS online so you don't actually have to speak to a person yet, but if you are going through the spread sheets anyway, then you might as well plug in the figures anyway?

Your OH maybe saying wait on a DMP but wait for what, for the situation to get worse? Far better to start sorting it out now, before people start panicing about Christmas and everyone and their dog trying to get on DMP's....

And I have to ask, could you the children change schools? If you really can't do this. Then you have to really pare everything else to the bone to balance the books. But the saving on school fees might do that balancing.... I know it is a really tough decision to make, but....school fees or keeping the house? Which is more important? School fees or eating properly/ having heating through the winter?

Sorry if this is harsh, but you need to really think about it, not just automatically say no.

  • Hi mrsmcr

I would echo what Chevalier said. It might be better to look at what your options are now before it gets even more difficult. Anyone can see the effort you are putting in to sorting this out but you may feel in more control if you did consider a DMP?

As for the people at School, stuff them! No one ever knows someone else's situation and I can bet you there is someone there trying to keep up with Jones' and daren't tackle their problems head on like you do.

  • I think it stays on your credit rating until it is finalised and all paid  but as you say, would you really want credit again? It might make you feel more in control again. You are running such a tight budget as it is, if you do decide to do a DMP it might let you loosen the belts a little and give you some breathing space.
