Thank you to both the TT and BT rep's for those replies!

PS, Derrick, calm down! Free just sounds better to both companies! We all know that we have to pay for them.:D

Nothing to do with calming down, ( I am calm ). just attempting to get the message correct!

Yes it does, "sounds better to both companies", but lets tell the truth and stop letting these companies continue to con us with their untruths and others,(?) agreeing with them! ;)

Thanks for the confirmation, BT Rep. We have on-line billing, but our (very useful) recent calls list includes only chargeable calls. Is there a way of requesting for the recent calls list to include all calls? Our actual quarterly bill says that included/'free' calls are itemised under 'benefits', but in fact they are not, as far as I can see.

    Hi YoungNick

I can confirm that should a customer exceed the free 0845/0870 usage for the month they will receive an sms to advise them. The only method of monitoring I could offer is our online billing service by viewing your recent usage fully itemised you could keep an eye on call durations and the number of calls made to the 0845/0870 ranges.

    Hope this helps

Thank you for your replies guys...I am the one who started this discussion...anyway...

I called BT few times and I am getting same answer everytime....

Some of them are telling 30 days rolling period,
others say that it is your billing period and others say that it is 1st - end of month

But cant understand what is right....

Overall if it is rolling 30 days, it is horrible...because, if you want make a 0870/0845 call today (23/07/09), you have to see whether you made 1000 minutes or 150 calls in last 30days which means you have to see your usage from 23/06/09...

sameway if you want to make a call tomorrow, you have to see usage from 24/06/09...I think that is a stupid rule...

regarding your answer you mentioned that you can see the usage on online billing, but you can only see the recent usage which means it is from your billing date...Suppose if your billing date is 10th of every month, you can only see from 10th and I wonder what is happening from 1st to 10th....

Its highly confusing. I dont know who can justify this....except the person who really made those calls....

    cheers

Today should be the last day on whcih to build credit on PreCaller's 0870 number. You can still used any unexpired credit after today of course!

Hopefully, PreCaller will continue on an 0845 number instead. But you will probably only get 1-2 units/min. during the day and maybe nothing in the evenings and weekends.

With the credits I have built up on PreCaller and QXDial I should not have any phone call charges for at least one year!

I don't mind the charges but none of these 0870 access numbers to call abroad work anymore, which means I'll have to look up for new access numbers then. grr.

ETA: I'm sorry, didn't mean to be misleading, those numbers are working. :o

I have been told by David Knell of PreCaller that they will launch an 0845 service of PreCaller once BT have sorted out some technical problems.

Meanwhile, you can use te QXDial+ service...

Don't know if I'm on the right thread but it may be of interest to some.
We are with BT Anytime Plan, 0845 and 0870 included but not the indirect access numbers to international numbers.

We have just started using the www.thephonecardsite.com as when ringing Uganda, which we do every day, you can use an 0208 access number before the 00 256 number and this is not charged on the BT bill.
Quite often when you ring Uganda, the call does not connect every time and what I found was that each time you "half connected" you were charged the BT connection charge to the other service (using whatever had been the cheapest on Martin's International Checker).

PreCaller is available again using 0845 611 8700. You build 2 units of credit for every minute you are on the phone - which seems quite generous given the unit cost of calls. But you can only build credit 8am-6pm Mon-Fri.

Ensure you dial 1470 0845 611 8700 if you withhold your number otherwise the call will fail to build credit.

As we speak, I am building credit, for free, on my Talk Talk landline.

Paul, how does Pre-caller work and what’s the unit cost for ringing India on BT?
