Nothing new about this concept http://www.qxcall.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=26&Itemid=113 have been doing it for ages.
They also allow you to build up points/credit by calling a geographical number out of your inclusive minutes.

 thank very much! Precaller does not support 0844 numbers, this one does. Now I can call Littlewoods tomorrow.
I'm confused about that 2nd link though, how do they make money off of you calling a geographic number? And would it work with 18185?0 -

Basically, you call 0870 192 2100 to build up credit and leave your phone off-hook. You can set a maximum time limit to help you keep within BT's fair usage limits (1000 mins/month, 150 calls/month, 60 mins/call).
Once you have credit, you make calls to your chosen international desitnation via the access number 020 3328 1355, using the same phone line that you used to build credit.
This seems to be the only way to make FREE calls to any international destination. I don't think it will let you call UK premium rate numbers but you can use it to call UK mobiles too.
Precaller is run by www.my0870.com but enables you to reach many more international destinations than my0870.com by building call credit.
I HAVE NOT TESTED THIS SYSTEM AS I DO NOT HAVE A BT LINE.
anyone tested it does it work. how do you checkl how many units u have and how do u know if wot is off peak and peak etc0 -
Yes, works fine. Once you have made your first credit-building call, to check how many units you have, go to http://www.precaller.co.uk/ ,
fill in your phone number in the box where it saysTo find out how much credit you've got, enter your phone number below
Peak is as defined by BT, currently (I think) 6am to 6 pm.
And no, they haven't got any 'customer service' - it's run by the bright and helpful chaps as 3C as a hobby. Just make sure you remember BT's monthly limits on number of duration of calls to 0870 and 0845.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I was wondering if dialling 141 before the 0870 no. can be a solution for people with withheld no.s. Since our no. is not withheld I cant test it.0 -

Since our no. is not withheld I cant test it.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

As of today (2nd June, 2009) it should now be possible to use www.precaller.co.uk from a Talk Talk landline to build credit to make free calls. This assumes, of course, that you dial the 0870 192 2100 access number within your free calling plan.
Remember that Talk Talk now have a limit of sixty minutes/call (rather than the previous 70 minutes/call) so bear this in mind when building credit via 0870 192 2100.
You should also note that there appears to be timing problems with precaller so make sure sure you don't exceed the 60 minute limit when buildfing credit (don't really on precaller cutting you off in time). PreCaller seems to add about 1.5 minutes to the call time you select before it cuts you off. Also. don't terminate an entry with the 'hash' button when prompted for the length of call as this will really screw things up!
PreCaller also has no password recovery (other than e-mailing support) so keep your password dafe. You also need to make sure you transmit CLI when calling both 0870 192 2100 and 020 3328 1355. This may mean dialling 1470 from a landline phone or ensuring your mobile phone transmits CLI by whatever method available to you.
PreCaller have introduced the ability to build credit on one number (eg landline) and use that credit from another number (eg mobile phone). You just need to log into you PreCaller account and add the second phone number. This may be very useful when ROAMING with your mobile phone if it has cheap calls back to the UK as it means you can still make cheap international calls when overseas!0 -
Just for the record, since my last post I've been using the QX Telecom thing posted above and have had no problems. It's been useful when something is only open office hours and there's no geo number, and unlike precaller it supports 0844 (although I haven't actually used this, never did call Littlewoods
)
