  • got a nice wee suprise when i checked the bank this morning :)
My bursary went in, though my loan won't be in till monday.
Plus the first payment is always a double payment, so i got £528 today, and am getting another £300 ish on Monday!

So i paid £25 to my other overdraft, £35 to kays and £22 to addidions.
As well as £20 to Dotty P's, Topshop and New Look cards :)

Took my wee brother out, got him a t-shirt, got myself a few cheap tops from h&m, and some much much needed new underwear.

Still have £295 left in the bank, so i'm pretty pleases with myself!

So i get £300 on Monday, paid from the shop on Friday (though i quit before doing a whole month, so prob only get £300ish)

Then student loan and bursary again on the 7th, then paid from Morrisons on the 9th

I made that mistake once, so I set up a Direct Debit to pay the minimum payment each month. Could you not do that?
    Total Debt (Dec 2015) £11,500 : Currently £7,675
    House Deposit Savings : £8,600/£25,000

  • i dont like the idea of direct debits...ive never dealt with them before. And i dont usually have any money in the bank at all, so i'd be scared that they would take the money out without me having anything in the bank at all
  • Direct debits are ok! You can cancel them when you want. But it makes it a lot easier to pay your credit cards, and it will save you missing payments.

Morrisons pay into your bank right? So just make sure that you leave the minimum amount in there ready for the date when they take the payment. But if you're that worried (and could trust yourself not to use it) you could always ask your bank to give you a small overdraft. I have £100 just in case I do ever go over.

Would agree that you need to set up direct debits. Dont mean to sound harsh but where has all the money gone that you had before to start making some payments towards the debts?
You cant afford to forget about your minimum payments, not only financially will it affect you but everytime you dont pay it will go on your credit file.

Direct debits really arent that scary!! And they make everything so easy. You can check them on your online banking or even cancel them on there. Would definatly recommend you go down that route - then you could cut your store cards up aswell!

You would need to get the payment details (account number etc) off all the creditors - will probably be on the back of your bill. If not you could phone them. I think you can either set a standing order up on your internet banking - or ask the companies to set direct debits up for the minimum amount each month then you could make extra payments on top of that as and when you have extra cash.

  • phoned up and made minimum payments today :)
Though on the phone they never said i was in arrears or had missed last months payment...so maybe i did pay it...who knows?!

On a better note, i got a payslip in the post today from McCalls, i get paid from them tomorrow.
I was only expecting a weeks wages, but i am getting 2 weeks wages, plus overtime, plus holiday hours, plus my £100 back i got emergency taxed on last month :)
