I have been looking for work I can do from home and have seen a couple of adverts for Data Entry/Home Typist positions where you send off a one-off payment for training, typically £20.00, and after passing the training can earn £300 - £500 per week. Although the website ***Link removed by Boardguide*** says this is a genuine position I am cautious as I cannot afford to waste any money. Does anybody have any experience of this type of work?

No I don't have any experience but I wouldn't send off any money for training of this kind, I think it't probably a con.

I would just tell them that I can type already and don't need training. I wouldn't give them a single penny, sounds like they're trying it on.

The idea of work is that they pay you, not the other way round!!!
Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!
  • I've just had a look at the website, which is interesting! What's particularly interesting is that it's an American company - imagine how many yanks would be doing this work if it was a feasible income generator! And you'd need an inbox the size of a house I suspect.
  • There is a "One Time Non-Refundable Fee" of £20.00 . The cost will cover the training materials sent to you. Once you process your very first order you will have made back this fee "GUARANTEED"!

    Keep your money
They have signed up for a free website @ freeweb.com anybody can make an account.
  • Dont pay it! If there are any local data entry jobs-your job centre should be advertising them, or local papers

    DONT DO IT

I was silly enough to respond to one of these adverts (different company) a few months ago and it was all a con.

I had to send £25 via paypal and then I was sent an email containing all the letters to send to people so I could con them as well. They gave me a list of websites and papers to place an advert like the one I replied to (you would have to type them,so this was the data entry). They said that within days I would have lots of people paying me £25 to get the same information.

I stayed away as I didnt want to con other people out of their money.
