i've always done avon with baby in a pram. it helps if you have customers at home during the day but at least if the books are in a plastic bag you can get customers to leave them outside for you to pick up during the day. you drop the books off during the day. orders arrive every 3 weeks so the only evening part is taking orders out to customers not at home during the day.

Have you checked your out going? Getting more work or a btter paid job is not always the ansewer, cutting down is often a better way.

  • *first post, very exciting*

I too have 2 kids - nearly 5 and nearly 2 - and i work from home. I went back to work when my oldest was 3months old, hated paying someone else to look after MY child so i left (after about a year) went to Jobcentre to see what i was "entitled to" - having paid Tax and NI since i was 16 and was told that i could only claim jobseekers which would mean having to sign on every fortnight and applying for jobs - UH HELLO? i had a job and left it!!! DER!! SO i started doing ann summers - suited me fine and i enjoyed it THEN i left when i was pregnant again (after doing it for a yr) and then when my daughter was born i started doing Virgin Vie (i wouldn't recommend it), i left in Feb this year and haven't looked back!

Anyway, thats my life story, here's my point, i am now working from home (still) doing admin & book keeping. I have 3 clients - 2 builders and 1 chinese therapist. I charge £8.50 an hour and its easy (for most of my work i am sat watching corrie with my laptop on my lap!!! for other work i'm in the kitchen while the kids are playing).

I do use a childminder 1 morning a week for my daughter cos one of the builders (my brother in law) i go to his office to work and i work 9-12.30. Other than that i charge him everytime he rings me/texts me if its a work thing (minimum is 15mins a time)

I earn £150 a month from my brother in law as i do more work for him. i get about £50 from the therapist and another £100 from the other builder.

Unfortunately, i have just become seperated from my hubby and have had to claim tax credits on my own and i can get a little bit of help from Housing Benefit BUT luckily i can pay my bills myself without being a drain on society (lol)

If you are interested in any info on being a "Virtual PA" please email me kerrywatts@gmail.com and i will email you all the info (templates for time sheets, letters to send to get business, my info brochure detailing my services and cost etc etc)
