Good morning,
what a lovely thread I have only been here a short time but this is the first time posting in OS.
Im just enjoying the peace and sunshine before tackling the day. had such a lot on the last few weeks, but after a year of health difficulties i finally feel a bit like me, unfortunately feeling well has also made me realise just how much of my life needs sorting. but this is a positive thread.
My OS treat of yesterday, i love baking and dusted off my ancient beroo cook book.
I had a happy few hours baking yesterday...after going through my store cupboard (always had one) and my freezer i sorted out everything that needed using. I made
batch of cornish pasties - a whoopsy pack of minced beef, a carrot, onion, poatoes and bit if gravy - made 15 mini pasties for about
cheese straws
spicy bean rolls - really easy to make i use what ever tins of mixed beans i have and add in a fried onion and curry spices.
devon apple cakes (are fab and can be frozen for 6 weeks)
3 pizza bases - rolled em out and stuck them in the freezer (they dont rise quite as well but will cook from frozen)
and the best thing OMG:j a traditional steamed syrup sponge for pudding - never made one before...It came out great and my little family of hulking great males sat there with tummy's full and happy smiles. It was so easy to make and other than taking an age to steam was really cheap too.
cor so gonna make that again.
now i have found this little corner of mse i shall be here more often0 -
Morning Guys!
The nurse has just been for my meds and bloods.....but what a lovely day:j :j :j
WM is on with a dark wash which I did on a 30c and will be hung outside by OH when finished. DW has been on and emptied. House clean and tidy. Have a light wash to maybe put on later
OH is washing the car today and finishing the ironing. He wants to get on with some more gardening too. He bought some lovely pots and plants last week from B&Q and the back garden looks nice. We sat out and had lunch there yesterday.
Was bought a lovely bunch of flowers at the weekend and they are sitting on my kitchen windowsill. The beef joints were enough for all of us at my relatives too.
I cant remember whether I said or not but I am starting a new course through the OU in May for 6 months. Got all the books etc through last week and it looks great.
Really want to sort through my paperwork today if I can muster the energy:o
I have done my accounts for the last 2 weeks and have managed to save £150 into the higher interest account.
Anyway, I am rambling.
Hugs to all.

Seems like there are several of you on the move, don't envy you really!
had a good weekend pottering here, tedious paperwork to do, otherwise OK. Nice meals appreciated by the family, cooked from scratch on Sat night, when the temptation to use the chippy was there, so felt good about that,
Idon't seem to get here very much at the moment, but that's a good sign, shows I'm getting on with other stuff,.
Have to go to work for half an hour, but lessons cancelled due to student review day, so will have lots of time to crack on with 'list',
Sewing club is tonight, so need to get a few things sorted out for that.
DS is in production this week, so need to do packed meals with no meat in them, as they have to last till the evening. Going to make some veggie cheese pasties I think. He will have school lunch (resent the expense, but nothing I can do really, don't want him having 2 sandwich meals a day for a week!)
DH and I are having smoked fish tonight, will try and find a recipe for kedgeree I think.
Have a good day everyone"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Bethebee - you always amaze me, and your daughters obviously take after you. You should be really proud of them.
We went to a farm in Yeadon yesterday. Little bear was delighted. It is a working farm with a farm walk, and you get so see sheep, ducks, chickens, peacocks, turkeys and even ferrets. Yesterday as we went past the ferrets were being 'romantic'. Like weasels. I told little bear that they were playing. The animals were obviously well cared for and the cages really clean. There was an activity centre and little bear bounced on the trampoline, jumped on the bouncy castle, played with the toys and completely refused to countenance going in the sand pit. No idea why, he wouldn't even touch the rotten stuff despite dear heart being extremely patient.
The farm shop was not quite what I wanted. The meat was underneath where one of the assistants was sitting, the veggies were, well I don't suppose they grow the sweet potato locally, and I found the bacon extremely salty. I shall continue to search for suitable freezer restocking but we shall go back to the activity centre. Also for the eggs. I do not think that they were cheap, but they are extremely free range and very fresh.
Old style today - no idea. Little bear has woken up on fast forward, so I shall see what today brings.

Morning Everyone its a fabulous sunny day here and I cant wait to get out in it.Been up since 4.30am got the ironing and a load in the washer, filled the lunchboxes, mopped the kitchen and spent an hour on the wii fit.Quite pleased as I'm up to nearly 11km in half an hours jogging now! After that had a shower and fed the kids their brekkie cereal and hot cross buns. Then it was a dash round the bedroom getting dressed, makeup on and tidying the upstairs.Kidsreading books, spellings and YD sounds are done so they are all ready for school so I'm nipping on here for a quick 5mins to catch up.
Off to Asda and the local asian grocers after I'vedropped the oldest at school as I need some mackerel and celery and a sack of spuds from the grocers. After that its off to speech therapy with yd and then home again after I've dropped her back at school and some housework to finish as well as making tea.I'm doing steak and kidney pudding, mash, cabbage and carrots for tea with spongecake and custard for pud
