Hi
i was in preston lancashire and used the lloyds tbs cash machine to withdraw 300 pounds but i took the card and left without taking the cash. I checked with the bank and the 300 has been debited. I think some one behind me took it
i have reported to the police and i am waiting for a appointment to explain it
hopefully the cctv on the atm would have caught it
the atm was on lancaster road preston
im gutted!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ps any ideas how i can go about getting my cash back any one helppppppppp
Even if the machine sucks the money back in it is recorded as a debit. If it has it will be refunded but there is a time delay between the debit and refund.0 -

Good on you.
I did a similar thing a couple of years ago. The guy in front of me had forgotten to take his cash out of the cashpoint and left, so i called him and took it out before the machine sucked it back in. He was grateful when i handed it to him.0 -

"huh" snatched the money and put his back to me. Fuming doesnt really cover it !!
That's horrible! I once had a man in front of me withdraw a bunch of £20 notes and wander off without it. My boyfriend grabbed the money and ran shouting after him to return it. He was positively beaming as he thanked him profusely, and I would be too- there are so many people who would happily nick it after all.
Typically despite his good deed that day my boyfriend later forgot to take the £20 he had withdrawn. We'd only been down the road for two minutes or so when he realised and there was already someone there at the cash point. Sure enough the money was gone. We didn't bother asking about whether any money had been there- it was in a dodgy area and the man used the machine so quickly after us he must have known full well who the money belonged to.
Still it is lovely to see all the posts where people have returned money- there are so many rotten people about you tend to forget about the nice ones.0 -
I'll never understand the mentality of people who would pilfer a few notes from an ATM.
I remember, I was on holiday in Europe once, visiting an old castle turned museum in Germany. While walking around outside something caught my eye and I went over to see what it was - it appeared to be a gold locket necklace covered by some dirt. We hadn't actually seen anyone else around whilst we were there so I had no idea who it may have belonged to. I picked it up and as we were leaving I handed it in to the lady at reception. I still remember clearly the shocked expression on her face. It turns out the necklace belonged to her niece and had been passed down the family line for about a century, and the niece had taken it on a school trip to the castle four years prior and lost it there.
The lady was clearly telling the truth - there is no way her reaction could have been rehearsed. She even offered me money as a reward. I just told her I was doing my bit for Anglo-German relations
... but she did insist that I had a drink with her and her niece. Her niece was incredibly happy about getting it back.
It might sound soppy or daft but you can't put a price on the good feeling something like that gives you. The significance of this little piece of jewellry meant the world to this family, more than any monetary value the necklace might have and to be the one who found it and got to see first hand just how much it meant, well as I say, that's a priceless feeling.0 -

An update (loooong overdue!)
I went to the HSBC branch and filled out the form. The personal banker was very nice about the whole thing, he said that they will check the end of day balance in the cash machine to see if there an outstanding amount and that I would hear from them within 6 weeks.
I don't know if they did actually check it - because I received my money back through a credit to my account in 5 days.
Very pleased naturally.
So do you think you maybe owe the bloke behind you some sort of apology? It aint over til I've done singing....0 -
At elephant and castle once, a guy walked off, !!!!ed off that it wouldn't work, and there was £100 sticking out. I chased after him and gave it to him. He offered me a tenner, but I declined. I felt good about it and it makes no difference to me long term (ie I am sure I would be in no different a position now if I had kept it).
Never done it (as far as I know). Can we just take it as read I didn't mean to offend you?0 -

Completely agree...
And thinking that withdrawing money, faffing about with handbag, taking the card out, walking away and back again while faffing with handbag takes 15 seconds must have really wrong idea about the time flow..IMHO0
